The latest band from New Jersey to get a record deal is grey goes black from Central Jersey. The band will have its new record, Records Over Wire, released on May 4th by the UK label Shore Dive Records (who specialize in Shoegaze/dreampop, electronica, post-rock, and post-punk bands).
From humble beginnings founding members Steve Moraghan and Matt Casoni, recorded and self released their first title in 2014. Shortly after, they added James Malizia Jr and went to work recording their second EP, War of Current. After many local shows, completing their first full length album, and numerous compilations and tribute albums, their latest single, “Break Apart Again” caught the attention of Nico from Shore Dive Records. With a return to their NJ DIY roots, their new album was made with help from Benjamin Feldman from Coffee Haus Studios in Freehold, NJ.
grey goes black consists of: Matt Casoni (vocals, guitar) Matt has played for the NJ based bands Holy Sue and Harry Globins army; James Malizia jr. (bass, keyboards) James played for NJ based band Send 72; and Steven Moraghan (drums, electronics) Steve has played for NJ based bands Codger, Two Tales, Virginia, and Maegashira.
The band is proud to join the talented group of artists also signed by Shore Dive Records, an independent record label based in Brighton, England, and looks forward to to a long relationship and another EP in the works by the end of summer.
