Doors Drummer to Take Part In Panel At Asbury Park Music & Film Festival

originally published: 02/28/2018

Doors Drummer to Take Part In Panel At Asbury Park Music & Film Festival(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Asbury Park Music & Film Festival (APMFF) has added John Densmore, drummer of The Doors, to a panel discussion following the world premiere of Break On Thru: A Celebration of Ray Manzarek and The Doors, on Saturday, April 28th at 12:45pm at the House of Independents in Asbury Park.

Densmore will be joined by the film's director, Justin Kreutzmann, Doors manager Jeff Jampol and other special guests for an in-depth discussion about the making of the documentary and the history of the band. Tickets & VIP passes for the premiere are available by visiting www.apmff.org

Densmore appeared on every recording in the history of The Doors and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.  He also garnered a GRAMMY® Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1993 and has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  In 1990, Densmore wrote Riders On The StormMy Life With Jim Morrison and The Doors, which would become a New York Times Best Seller.

“I’m very excited to return to the land of Bruce, where The Doors played in the early days," said Densmore. “I’m also very excited and proud of the film tribute to Ray that is world premiering at the festival.”

“As a Doors fan, it was a thrill when Ray Manzarek came to Bob Weir’s TRI Studios, where I worked, for a live webcast," said Kreutzmann. "Collaborating with Robby Krieger and John Densmore, along with everyone at Jampol Artist Management, has been an amazing experience.  Interestingly enough, the film contains footage from 50 years ago when The Doors played Asbury Park's Convention Hall. So it's very appropriate that the world premiere will take place at this year's Asbury Park Music & Film Festival. This movie is a tribute to Ray and The Doors and one that Doors fans will love…because it was made by one.”
