Crossroads Commemorates the 60th Anniversary of the Freedom Rides With Social Media and Free Screening of "Good Trouble" on May 17

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Crossroads Theatre Company will commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Freedom Rides from May 4-24. Follow Crossroads daily social media blog post beginning May 14th that will follow the journey of the first buses heading south. This will be more than a chronology of events, Crossroads will share the amazing stories of these brave young men and women who forged their way on a perilous path to justice.

You'll also learn more about a few of the participants and organizers, including activist and co-founder of SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee), Diane Nash.

As part of recognizing this rich legacy, Crossroads presents a FREE screening of the documentary Good Trouble in honor of the late Congressman, and former Freedom Rider, John R. Lewis on May 17th.

The 1999 Tony® Award-winning Crossroads Theatre Company (CTC), now a resident member of the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC), is dedicated to creating and producing work that tells the stories of African Americans. In its 42nd year being a preeminent gateway for black theatre, it has been the stage for many actors, directors, designers, writers and other theatre professionals, Crossroads has built a rich and storied legacy, celebrating the culture, history, spirit and voices of the African Diaspora.

Crossroads is honored to provide a closer look into this pivotal time in American history. Follow the Freedom Rides on Facebook and Instagram at Crossroads Theatre Company and on Twitter
