(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- August is going to get hotter as the Atlantic City Ballet kicks off their 36th season with their tale of seduction, passion, betrayal and murder on August 19th. The sexy and sizzling ballet Carmen, featuring the original, breathtaking choreography of Artistic Director, Phyllis Papa, backdrop design by Broadway scenic artist David Esler and an enthralling score by Georges Bizet, tells the story of a beautiful seductress, the two lovers who vie for her affection and the tragic outcome of their tangled affair.
Ms. Papa’s imaginative staging creates a world where gypsies, smugglers and toreadors pack all the sizzle of Spanish culture into an irresistible theatrical event.
The tragic love story at the heart of Carmen has inspired its fair share of ballets from companies all across the world. Most of these interpretations, however, are much shorter in length and don’t reflect the full story. “AC Ballet’s Carmen is one of the few full length Carmen’s performed on the east coast” says Ms. Papa. “Our Carmen follows the entire story and is Bizet’s score the way it’s meant to be heard.”
The Atlantic City Ballet will be performing Carmen on Sunday, August 19th at 4:00pm in the Circus Maximus Theater at Caesars Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Tickets are $45-Adults $20-Children & Students. 15% senior discount and group discount also available. Tickets may be purchased by calling the theater box office, going to www.acballet.org or Ticketmaster. Discounted tickets for Atlantic City residents are available for $15 but must be purchased at Caesar’s box office or ballet office.
