(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- ArtsCAP has commissioned local artist Patricia Arroyo, who will work with local kids to paint a new mural inside the Asbury Park Transportation Center, which has recently undergone a beautification project led by the Asbury Park Quality of Life Committee.
The mural will be painted on the west facing wall on the lower level of the Center and will welcome visitors to the City arriving on south bound NJ Transit trains and will depict Asbury Park from past to present, and from Eastside to Westside.
Patricia, a graduate of The School of Visual Arts in New York City, draws on her childhood memories of Asbury Park, especially the boardwalk amusements and playground.
The image shown above is only part of what is planned. The project has several noteworthy contributors including the Mary Owen Borden Foundation and the Investors Foundation. However, additional funds are required and ArtsCAP has posted a "GoFundMe" page to help raise additional funds needed for this and future mural projects. Donations are tax deductible.
The mural is expected to be completed by late August and the public will be invited to the official unveiling during September.
