Artists with Disabilities Showcase Artwork at Paper Mill Playhouse

(Millburn, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee-Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) one of the country's premier not-for-profit theaters, is the place where American musical theater is celebrated, cherished, and pushed in exciting new directions, is thrilled to showcase a new art exhibit in the theater's gallery from July 28 - August 19, 2014. In partnership with VSA New Jersey, the art collection will feature original work by Javier Robles, Matt Tucker, Anthony Zaremba and Hannah Fanelli. The gallery will be open to the public during normal box office hours and throughout the run of New Voices 2014, Oh What a Night.

"We are thrilled to feature art in partnership with VSA New Jersey," commented Mark S. Hoebee, Paper Mill Playhouse's Producing Artistic Director. "Our mission of complete accessibility includes our art gallery and I hope the community will admire the amazing pieces these artists have created."

The artists include:

Javier Robles is a New Jersey-based photographer and artist who acquired a C5 spinal cord injury and quadriplegia as a teenager. In addition to creating artwork, Mr. Robles has worked in disability services for over 20 years. Mr. Robles currently advocates for others through his Twitter handle @thisabled.

Matt Tucker doesn't let his rare bone condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta stop him from pursuing his passion for the arts. Anthony Zaremba, a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1984. With determination and a vision to pursue his love of art, he retrained himself to paint with his left hand. Hannah Fanelli is a visual artist and a performer. Ms. Fanelli performed in several lauded Theatre in Motion music videos that utilize non-traditional casting and showcases artists with and without disabilities in the genre of musical theatre. Ms. Fanelli's visual art has been featured in New York City's Central Park and throughout New Jersey.

News Voices 2014 features 120 of the of the region's most talented young performing artists from Paper Mill Playhouse's Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory in a fully produced, original concert on the Paper Mill mainstage titled Oh, What a Night! Members of the competitive Conservatory who earned coveted spots in the Senior, Junior Plus, and Junior Companies (ages 10-18) are directed and choreographed by Paper Mill Playhouse's professional artistic staff in this concert which is the culmination of the five-week program. Also appearing are numerous winners and nominees of the 2014 Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards who won scholarships to attend the Conservatory.

Performances of New Voices of 2014: Oh, What a Night will be held on Friday, August 1st at 7:30pm and Saturday, August 2nd at 1:30 and 7:30pm. Single tickets range in price from $25 to $45. This year's New Voices is a tribute to the magical shows and unforgettable moments that made us fall in love with the American musical. "New Voices is an amazing opportunity to see the stars of tomorrow," stated Mark S. Hoebee, Paper Mill's Producing Artistic Director. "This fully produced, original concert features 120 incredible performers. It is amazing to see these young performers grow into professional artists and grace our stage with an inspiring, heartfelt performance."
