AC Ballet’s Artistic Director, Phyllis Papa, inspired by the Broadway shows she would see as a child, created this ballet to pay tribute to the performances that moved her to have a career in the performing arts. There is something for everyone in this ballet from a West Side Story Suite of dances to a rousing rendition of 42nd Street, this ballet is for anyone who has ever heard one of these songs or seen one of these shows. Accompanying the dancers is the AC Ballet’s pit orchestra, an eight piece instrumental group that has become popular with audiences since its inception in 2013. This season, strings have been added to round out the sound of those famous Broadway tunes which is sure to have audiences toe tapping from the overture to the curtain call. Whether you are a ballet fan or a first timer this show is a must see.
Tickets are $45 for adults and $20 for children 17 and under. Senior, military and group discounts are available. Special pricing of $12 for Atlantic City residents.
Founded in 1982, by International Ballerina, Phyllis Papa, the Atlantic City Ballet is comprised of professional dancers from around the world and have earned national acclaim for their technical expertise and exuberant stage presence. Although their home base is in Historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, the Ballet has performed in theaters all along the east coast. Their repertoire of original works includes such classics as A Midsummer Night's Dream, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake but, Ms. Papa is most known for her innovative works such as Dracula, Caught Up In The Swing and her full length Carmen. Since its inception, the Atlantic City Ballet has served as one of the cultural treasures of New Jersey and continues a tradition of dance excellence for future generations of ballet audiences.
