Nominations are open: 2018 ICWP 50/50 Applause Awards for Theatre Gender Parity

The International Centre for Women Playwrights (ICWP) sponsors the seventh annual 50/50 Applause Award, celebrating theatres who achieve gender equity for playwrights in their 2017-2018 Season.  The nomination window for the 2017-2018 theatrical season is open now through March 15th.


Eagle Theatre Conservatory To Hold Audition Workshop On April 15th

(HAMMONTON, NJ) -- Eagle Theatre Conservatory, a year-round theatrical institute for all ages and levels of professionalism, has announced new plans for their spring and summer offerings.


Paper Mill to Present The World Premiere of "Unmasked" by Andrew Lloyd Webber

(MILLBURN, NJ)  -- Paper Mill Playhouse will present the world premiere of Unmasked, which will feature some of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s most iconic work and the stories behind its creation, along with new music and memories from his extraordinary life and career, will open its 2018-2019 season. Unmasked will be a funny and warm musical portrait drawing from Andrew’s extensive body of work, with intimate and sometimes unexpected interpretations of his best-loved songs, rediscovered gems and some new material specially written for this production.

Drummer Tommy Igoe and his 10-piece jazz band — The Birdland All-Stars — made a recent Valentine’s Day appearance this Feb. 14, 2018 at Toms River, NJ’s Grunin Center of the Arts.


The Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling To Celebrate Alligator Records Debut At Roxy & Dukes

(DUNELLEN, NJ) -- Chicago blues group, The Nick Moss Band Featuring Dennis Gruenling, celebrate their Alligator Records debut, The High Cost of Low Living, at Roxy & Dukes Roadhouse on Tuesday, March 13 at 8:00pm. The album is a tour de force of the classic Chicago blues ensemble sound that world class guitarist/vocalist Moss and master harmonicist/vocalist Gruenling know, live and love. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.


Mayo Presents Marc Cohn with The Blind Boys of Alabama

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Singer-songwriter Marc Cohn, best known for his megahit "Walking in Memphis," performs at Mayo Performing Arts Center on Friday, March 16 at 8:00pm. Joining him onstage will be the revered gospel group, The Blind Boys of Alabama. Tickets range from $29-69.


Garden State Film Festival To Present The East Coast Premiere of "Making A Killing"

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The 16th Annual Garden State Film Festival will present the East Coast premiere of "Making A Killing," a new independent feature film from Tinton Falls, New Jersey native Devin Hume (Director/Producer/Co-Writer) and Bruce Robinson (Executive Producer/Producer). Starring Michael Jai White, Mike Starr, Jude Moran, Aida Turturro, New Jersey’s Jack Forcinito with Sally Kirkland and Christopher Lloyd, this twisted modern-day crime mystery BASED ON A TRUE STORY, tells the story of three morticians who get caught in a web of greed and deceit, involving buried treasure and a tangled love affair. 


Sierra Hull LIVE! at Toms River’s Grunin Center

The stage is set for musical excitement this Saturday, February 2, 2018 evening at Toms River, NJ’s Grunin Center for the Arts for a concert featuring Grammy-nominated mandolinist Sierra Hull.


Westminster student premieres new work at Damien Dixon Scholarship Master Class

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Choir College will host The Damien Dixon Memorial Scholarship Master Class with Professor Ingrid Clarfield on February 25 at 2:00pm in Bristol Chapel on the Westminster Choir College campus in Princeton.  Proceeds from the event will support the Damien Dixon Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to an undergraduate piano student at Westminster.

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- An Intimate Evening with Rickie Lee Jones comes to the Grunin Center for the Arts on Thursday, March 22 at 7:30pm. Two-time Grammy winner Rickie Lee Jones exploded onto the pop scene in 1978 and has made a career of fearlessly experimenting with her sound and persona over 15 critically acclaimed albums.


Rider University Musical Theatre Presents The Theory of Relativity

(LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ) -- Rider University presents The Theory of Relativity in the Yvonne Theatre beginning with a preview performance on Thursday, February 20.  Performances are Friday, February 21, through Sunday, February 25. The Theory of Relativity is a new musical written by Drama Desk nominees Neil Bartram and Brian Hill. The show introduces a wide range of characters experiencing the joys of life, heartbreaks and personal development. It is Rider University’s first major musical of the spring semester.


Jay Ungar and Molly Mason to perform at The Folk Project

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Jay Ungar and Molly Mason will perform on Friday, March 23 at 7:30pm at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship in Morristown.  Jay’s haunting “Ashokan Farewell” became the signature piece for Ken Burns’ PBS Civil War series, earning him an Emmy nomination. The sound track won a Grammy.


Centenary Stage Company Presents Molsky’s Mountain Drifters

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company’s 2017 – 18 season of concert events continues on Saturday, March 10 at 8:00pm with Molsky’s Mountain Drifters in the Lackland Performing Arts Center. Considered, “one of America’s premier fiddling talents” (Mother Jones) Grammy-nominated Bruce Molsky on fiddle, banjo, guitar and song presents his new group.

The Williams Center To Screen "The Vanishing of Sidney Hall"

(RUTHERFORD, NJ) -- The Williams Center will present The Vanishing of Sidney Hall on Tuesday, February 27th at 7:30pm. After publishing a bestselling novel based on the death of one of his high school classmates, the controversial writer Sidney Hall (Logan Lerman) finds himself catapulted to unexpected fame and renown.  A Q&A with Director Shawn Christensen will take place immediately after the screening.


New Jersey Film Festival Spring 2018 Winners Announced!

All the works that were part of the New Jersey Film Festival Competition were selected by a panel of judges including media professionals, journalists, students, and academics. These judges selected the 23 finalists which were publicly screened at the Festival. The finalists were selected from 403 works submitted by filmmakers from around the world. In addition, the judges chose the Prize Winners in conjunction with the Festival Director.

651 Young Artists Recognized by Montclair Art Museum for Their Original Works

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Montclair Art Museum (MAM) has announced the regional award recipients of the 2018 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Presented by the nonprofit organization the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers, the 95th Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are the country's longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program for creative students in grades 7–12. This program year, nearly 350,000 works of art and writing were submitted to more than 100 Affiliate Partners across the country, of which MAM is the sole NJ affiliate.
