Comedy Dynamics Releases UnCabaret Presents... Judy Toll: Shareaholic

originally published: 12/01/2015

(LOS ANGELES, CA) -- Comedy Dynamics will release UnCabaret Presents... Judy Toll: Shareaholic on iTunes, Google Play, and all other digital retailers and streaming sites on December 4, 2015.  The only commercially-available audio material available from Toll, this is the long-awaited collection of UnCabaret material from the passionate and singular comedy talent who left this earth too soon. Judy worked vulnerable the way other comedians work blue, and influenced a generation of emotionally-raw comedians. The more Judy opened up, the more endearing she became, somehow making gaining weight, bad dates, and not fitting in with cheerleaders seem enviable. Judy Toll: Shareaholic collects the sets that trace Judy’s quest for true love. And it does in fact have a happy ending.

The performances were recorded live at UnCabaret, as the events were unfolding. Her cadence is intimate and conversational, her tone warm, and when listening to these recordings it feels like your best friend calling with a funny story about her day.

Judy came to UnCabaret from the world famous Groundlings Theater, the improv group which she joined in 1984. Judy wrote the award-winning play, “Casual Sex,” and the Ivan Reitman-produced feature film. She wrote on several television shows including Boy Meets World, Sex and the City, Alright Already, and The Geena Davis Show. She appeared in several movies and television shows including Skin Deep, Honeymoon Academy, Inside Out, and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Her stand-up performances can still be seen on Comedy Central, MTV and A&E. Toll passed away May 2, 2002 after a five-year battle with cancer.

UnCabaret is a long-running comedy show, created by Beth Lapides with then producing partner Greg Miller, which helped nurture and bring to light some of the most iconoclastic comedy stars in the industry, including Kathy Griffin, Patton Oswalt, Andy Dick, and Dana Gould. The show is currently in residence at Au Lac in DTLA and in the past few years has featured comedy luminaries including Sandra Bernhard, Roseanne Barr, Tig Notaro, Margaret Cho, Michael Patrick King and Jennifer Coolidge, as well as developing a new generation of iconoclastic comedy stars and producing multimedia content. www.uncabaret.com
