by Danny Coleman - published 2025-09-18

"We come from Finland, we are all from Helsinki, the capital city," stated The Rasmus front man Lauri Ylonen  as he discussed the band's newest release, origins, songwriting and more. "We met a long time ago at school, we were 15 years old when we put the band together and that was about 30 years ago. So, it has been a long career for us, this will be our eleventh album, there have been a lot of things happening during those years but fortunately we are still together and only two of our members have changed. We have two original guys, me and the bass player and we're excited about The Rasmus for 2025."

Rock On! This Week's Sound Bites...9/11/25

by Danny Coleman - published 2025-09-11

"The idea sort of started around 10 years ago but it took a minute to get it up and  finished; actually COVID was the thing that got me to finish it because I had a whole year where I really didn't have anything to do so I finished the studio," laughed bassist Jack Daley as he and Producer Marc Swersky discussed the creation and function of Dug Deep Production in Asbury Park, NJ.  "It was sort of framed and sheet-rocked but I completely gutted the building. I had the studio half built and then I had about three or four years when I was touring so much with Steven Van Zandt that I couldn't really get it finished but once COVID hit, I was over here every day."

"Yes, on September 12. There is a real range of styles and I'm very excited about it. "Hummingbird Highway" is a good summary of it because the "Hummingbird Highway" kind of alludes to a very fast moving and colorful world which is what I encounter and it makes its way into my songwriting."
