Light the World Giving Machines Return During Christmas Season

Light the World Giving Machines are now available in 10 locations across the United States for people to donate to dozens of local and global charity organizations this Christmas season. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on November 30 (“Giving Tuesday”) to officially open the “vending machines” for business near the Rockefeller tree in New York City. When New Yorkers and tourists visit Rockefeller Center, they can access a Light the World Giving Machine to select personalized donations to benefit those in need this holiday season.

With the swipe of a credit card and the push of a button, passersby donate one of more than 30 items ranging in value from $5 to $250, such as a pair of gloves for a New York teenager in need, polio vaccines, meals for homeless New Yorkers, or a well to provide a family with access to clean water.

The annual effort, organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, encourages people everywhere to follow the Savior’s admonition to “love one another; as I have loved you” (John 13:34). The theme for this year’s initiative is “Light the World With Love.”

Red Giving Machines are also available in Las Vegas, Nevada – Downtown Summerlin Mall; Nashville, Tennessee – Bridgestone Arena; Honolulu, Hawaii – Pearlridge Center; Orem, Utah – University Place; Salt Lake City, Utah – City Creek Center; Oakland, California – Temple Hill; Gilbert, Arizona – Water Tower Plaza; Denver, Colorado – Writer Square; and  Kansas City, Missouri - Crown Center.

The Light the World Giving Machine campaign will run through January 1, 2022.
