Little Steven’s Underground Apothecary Is Launched By Canna Provisions

(LEE, MA) -- Canna Provisions, the award-winning leader of the adult-use retail cannabis community in Western Massachusetts, recently announced a line of cannabis pre-roll joints using Smash Hits cannabis, Canna Provisions proprietary craft cannabis flower called Little Steven’s Underground Apothecary.  Canna Provisions stores in Lee and Holyoke Massachusetts will be the exclusive carriers of Little Steven’s Underground Apothecary cannabis pre-rolls which will be rolled using hand-grown high-CBD, low-THC craft cannabis from Canna Provisions available for all 21+ adults.

This cannabis is meant to provide a powerful feeling of well-being and enriching your endocannabinoid system with high-CBD and low-THC flower, so it’s less of a stoned-high and more a full-body balancing effect with uplifting pep. The impact of the global pandemic was a wake-up call to Van Zandt, as it was to others, to the importance of personal well-being. He would start Little Steven’s Underground Apothecary and release a line of holistic teas, lollipops, and candles created to turn on people’s immune systems and control their own wellness.

And with so many states enacting medical or recreational legalization laws, cannabis remaining federally illegal was a wrong that needed to be righted in the eyes of Van Zandt.

“We need to help spread cannabis education, destigmatization, and stop unjust criminalization for a plant that not only does a lot of good but has proven during COVID to be almost as essential as art to people’s well-being and quality of life,” says Van Zandt.

“You don’t have to smoke cannabis or even use it to support national legalization, but for those that do use it, Little Steven wanted to be sure to have an approachable, low-THC and high-CBD cannabis that is less about the recreational high, and more for people seeking the benefits of cannabis and cannabinoids like high-CBD cannabis on the body and mind,” says Meg Sanders, Canna Provisions CEO. 

This isn’t the first time Sanders has partnered with a musician or woven cannabis and the arts together in the culture. Previously Sanders has partnered with Willie Nelson’s estate to Launch Willie’s Reserve. Additionally, in 2015, 60 Minutes shot a broadcast feature on Meg as a rising leader in the Denver cannabis scene after working with other dispensaries and cannabis partners to sponsor a series of Bring Your Own Pot “BYOP” fundraisers to support the Colorado Symphony Orchestra with friend, cannabis activist/lobbyist, and then-chief clarinetist for the Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, Shawn Coleman. 

As an agent of social change, Van Zandt says cannabis needs all the help it can get to help right the wrongs of the so-called “War on Drugs” and continue to fight for national legalization and increased access for adults seeking safe, legal cannabis. 10% of profits from sales of Little Steven’s Underground Apothecary pre-rolls will go to the National Organization for Marijuana Legalization (NORML).

After helping create the “Jersey Shore” sound with the Asbury Jukes, Stevie Van Zandt became a founding member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and went on to become a successful solo artist in his own right recording and performing with his band Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul. In 1985 Stevie formed Artists United Against Apartheid and wrote “Sun City,” a song featuring over 50 major recording artists protesting the Apartheid system and considered by many political experts to be one of the fatal blows to Apartheid, leading to Nelson Mandela being freed only a few years later. Stevie has twice been honored by the United Nations for his political activism. He Co-Starred in all seven seasons of the Sopranos, playing the principal character "Silvio Dante,” a character that he created. He starred in, co-wrote, executive produced, provided the music supervision and scoring, and directed (the final episode) for the award-winning series Lilyhammer, which was the first original programming for Netflix. In 2001 he launched “Little Steven’s Underground Garage,” his internationally syndicated radio show and the most successful syndicated Rock music radio show in the past 50 years. Stevie also created and produces the first two channels of original content on SiriusXM Satellite Radio, the Underground Garage (Channel 21) and Outlaw Country (Channel 60). In 2006 he launched his record label, Wicked Cool Records, to further support new Rock and Roll. Van Zandt's highly acclaimed new memoir, Unrequited Infatuations, is a New York Times bestseller.
