(HAWTHORNE, NJ) -- The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners, Passaic County Sheriff’s Office and Passaic County Paws, Inc. will be hosting the county’s 5th Annual Paws in the Park on Saturday, October 9th from 10:00am - 4:00pm at Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne.
Paws in the Park supports the Passaic County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit, which patrols county parks and county-owned properties.
Apart from being a fun-filled day of demonstrations by the Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit, food trucks, and microchipping, Paws in the Park aims to find forever homes for local pets in need of adoption and raise funds to support the Passaic County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit. This includes funding for the maintenance and care of the Sheriff’s canines upon retirement. In previous years, they have welcomed over 2,000 people and their pets to this event.
As part of an initiative to raise funds for their K-9s, Passaic County is offering memorial bricks for people to purchase in their pet’s or family name, where they will be placed in the Pet Memorial Garden at Lambert Castle. The purchase of a brick is tax deductible.
Goffle Brook Park is located at 788 Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne, New Jersey.
This year, Paws in the Park is being sponsored by several local establishments:
