(FREEHOLD, NJ) -- “Surf, Lounge & Exotic Sounds” record label Hi-Tide Recordings has announced Nu-Tone - an expansive new imprint to offer R&B, soul, boogaloo, rock ’n’ roll, garage & more. The label’s first signing is The Jazztronauts from Staten Island, NY. The band’s debut LP will hit shelves in Spring 2022.
“It’s been amazing to watch Hi-Tide grow over the last 5 years” says co-founder Magdalena O’Connell. “As our artists evolve their sound and we take new partnerships, it feels like the right time to widen the scope.”
O’Connell and husband Vincent Minervino conceived Hi-Tide Recordings as a fantasy brand to stamp onto their first vinyl release in 2016 - Black Flamingos’ “Flamingo Twist b/w Neon Boneyard” single. Since then, Hi-Tide has become home to over 30 artists from around the world - The Surfrajettes from Toronto, The Hula Girls from Los Angeles, Los Frenéticos Nfrom Córdoba, Argentina,
eLes Agamemnonz from Rouen, France, Surfer Joe from Livorno, Italy, Lulufin the Woo Hoo from Osaka, Japan & more. The label is currently distributed by Green Hill Music through Virgin Music USA.
“We’ve had a good amount of music come into our inbox that we loved, but it just didn’t fit into the Hi-Tide niche,” explains O’Connell. “It’s been exciting to circle back to some artists we have met over the years and say ‘we’re expanding, let’s talk’.”
