Black Fox Productions presents a “Lounge Night of Theater” in Red Bank

originally published: 07/20/2021

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Black Fox Productions is utilizing theater, music, and spoken word as a means of creating conversations about race relations and police brutality, on Friday and Saturday, August 13-14 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center in Red Bank. The goal is to have members of the community come together to engage with the performance art, and to share their own perspective on these issues. These performances are devoted to bringing attention to combating systemic racism and advocating for social justice. The line-up of BIPOC (Black Indigenous People of Color) artists will shine a light through their art on issues that affect Black and Brown communities.

The two-nights will include Neo-Soul music from John Payne, Travis Clyburn, Ben Napoleon, and Zal Walton Jr.  There will be spoken word poetry by nationally recognized and published poet, Jay Délise. The main attraction is a short play entitled, Blackface, by Mya Alexice, a nationally recognized writer.

The cast includes: Sarai Quinice, Kenon Veno, and Ronald Hinton. An original work, Blackface is a look at the potential future in the handling of police brutality and unarmed shootings and the ranging viewpoints of the family tasked with implementing the controversial solution.

Tickets are $20 and available for purchase online. T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center is located at 94 Drs James Parker Boulevard in Red Bank, New Jersey.

In 2020, Black Fox Productions (BFP) collaborated with social awareness entities such as KWebb LLC, J. Payne LLC. and the T. Thomas Fortune Cultural Center, which creates safe spaces for racially-focused dialogue.  BFP is encouraged to be partnering with these great organizations to keep this conversation going, as a reminder about the future of race relations and accountability in our society.  It is up to all of us to make social justice for all a reality. This is an event that will give the audience new perspectives on questions we’re all dealing with and how, together, we can resolve these issues with a better understanding of each other and what we’d like to be as a society. BFP has assembled a fantastic team of conversation starters in our performing artists.
