(CRANFORD, NJ) -- For 14 months the lights were dark at performance venues across New Jersey due to safety precautions throughout the pandemic. So, it was with great excitement that CDC Theatre in Cranford threw open its doors and presented LIVE Theatre again with its recent successful production of A Doll’s House – Part 2 in June.
With its next in person show, CDC Theatre has re-invigorated its commitment to theatrical diversity & inclusion with the Spanish-language production of La Casita Feliz. Under the auspices of the Hispanic Theatre Festival, this comedy is slated for three shows only on Friday and Saturday, July 30-31 at 8:00pm, and a 2:00pm matinee on Sunday, August 1. Performances take place at CDC Theatre (78 Winans Avenue) in Cranford, New Jersey.
La Casita Feliz is a comedy about a dysfunctional, yet loving, family and the 9-year-old daughter’s efforts to turn her household into the ideal home of her dreams. Written by the award-winning Argentine playwright, Adriana Ferrari, we follow Camila (played by Cranford resident Miriam Serna) as she rebels against her Father (Robert Asencio of Elizabeth) and Mother (Claudia Tinageros of Edison) by barricading herself into her toy playhouse – the “Happy Little House” of the title – until her demands are met.
Camila enlists the help of her older sister (played by Valentina Zubrinic of Berkeley Heights), a couple of classmates (Aryana Nautiyal Maclean and Nikhil Nautiyal Maclean, both of Cranford) and the housekeeper Rosa (played by Milagros Cortes of Linden).
