Paper Mill Playhouse 2021 Rising Star Winners Are Announced

(MILLBURN, NJ) --  Since their inception in 1996, the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater have ignited the careers of many notable performers, all of whom attended high school in New Jersey.  The 2021 Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards Presented by the Investors Foundation took place on Monday, June 7 featuring performances from schools representing all corners of the state of New Jersey. The Rising Star Awards were presented on Paper Mill’s YouTube and Facebook pages where they can be viewed on demand.


Music Mountain Theatre Presents "Murder at Cheltenham Manor, The Play" In June

(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents Murder at Cheltenham Manor, a twisting, turning, whodunnit, where the audience gets to have input which will steer the story as we progress. The play is newly adapted for the stage, based on an original YouTube series created last spring during quarantine. The production premieres on June 11th and runs for nine performances ending on June 27th.

Gabrielle Cavassa and Tawanda Suessbrich-Joaquim Take 1st Prize In The 9th Annual Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition

(NEWARK, NJ) --  The 9th Annual Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition made history this year by naming two winners who will each take home the prize of $5,000. The distinguished panel of judges and pillars of the jazz community awarded Gabrielle Cavassa and Tawanda Suessbrich-Joaquim with first-place prizes in the 9th Annual Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. The finalists performed live before the esteemed panel of judges and the event was streamed on NJPAC's FB Page.

In the latest episode of Good Tunes, a music-centric, comedic podcast hosted by longtime friends and frequent band-mates, Tim Montalvo and Roger Wuy, the guys watch the music video for the title track off their second WUP EP, "Touch the Sky". Progressive Theater Presents Free Screening Of "Upstairs Inferno" on June 12

(MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- On June 24, 1973, an arsonist set fire to the Up Stairs Lounge, a gay bar located on the edge of the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. For 43 years, the deadly fire was the “Largest Gay Mass Murder in U.S. History”. Despite its staggering historical significance, few people know about the crime. You can learn about it when Progressive Theater presents a free screening of Robert L Camina's Upstairs Inferno on June 12 at 7:00pm.  The screening takes place at The Woodland in Maplewood.

Skyline Theatre Company’s Broadway Dance Workshop For Teenagers Now Accepting Registrations

Skyline Theatre Company, Bergen County’s most established professional theatre company, announces registration is now open for its Broadway Dance Workshop to be held on Monday, July 12 from 1:00pm-5:00pm on Skyline’s stage in Bergen County. The one-day workshop is limited to 12 participants ages 12-18 and will be led by Broadway dancers and choreographers. Registration fee is $105 and additional details can be found on Skyline’s website.


Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company Announces Dancers For "The Bridge" June 7-11

(FORT LEE, NJ) -- In the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company has established a new dance institute through Zoom, The Bridge.  The Institute’s aim is to bring together dancers, choreographers and directors around the world to experience the master teachers of color whose practices are embedded in the community and are focused on advancing the art of dance that transform the personal, environmental and metaphysical spaces.

Jazz Concert at Trenton City Museum will Feature the Joe Baione Vibraphone Experience

(TRENTON, NJ) -- Trenton City Museum will present a free jazz concert Friday, July 18, 2025 at the museum's Ellarslie Mansion in Cadwalader Park. Featuring world-renowned vibraphonist Joe Baione, the Joe Baione Vibraphone Experience is the first group to perform in a series of jazz events leading up to the museum's 2026 TRENTON MAKES JAZZ exhibition, in collaboration with the City of Trenton.
