John Gilbride & Friends Livestream From the Waterfront South Theatre On May 19th

originally published: 05/17/2021

(CAMDEN, NJ) -- John Gilbride & Friends will perform live at the Waterfront South Theatre on Wednesday, May 19th at 7:00pm. The concert can be watched for free on Facebook Live, but donations are encouraged to support the South Camden Theatre Company who is presenting the event.

John Gilbride is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, who fuses Folk, Rock and Funk into great new songs. John released his first full length album “Paved Roads” in 2019. John brings together an eclectic blend of collaborators from around the region to form his band, John Gilbride & Friends. This group brings John’s music and lyrics to life with undeniable personality and a high energy stage show. He and the band are excited to be back in 2021 to help breathe new life into the return of the arts after a 14-month pandemic hiatus.

South Camden Theatre Company’s vice-president, Jordan Feld arranged this live-streamed music event after chatting with John during a pandemic “happy-hour” where John was providing the music for the event on Zoom. “We’re always looking for new ways to make use of South Camden’s Waterfront South Theatre when we don’t have live theatre on stage. Our 99-seat auditorium is the perfect space for music, poetry, theatre — all kinds of live entertainment.”

Robert Bingaman, the theatre’s board president said, “We are excited to also announce that the Company will be moving to live, in-person theatre events beginning in September, 2021. We’ll be presenting two 2021 season productions on-stage this coming fall.”

“With more people being vaccinated and the Governor allowing spaces like ours to seat more people, we’re looking forward to welcoming our guests back to watch both “Daphne’s Dive” by Quiara Alegrîa Hudes and “The Brothers Size” by Tarell Alvin McCraney live on our stage.” Of course, we’ll still be watching out for your safety and following CDC guidelines.

South Camden Theatre Company is proud to call Camden home. When the company was founded in 2005, performances were held in the basement theatre of the Sacred Heart Church. We’re also proud owners of The Waterfront South Theatre, the first, free-standing theatre built in Camden in more than 100 years.

Along with the theatre company, the Waterfront South neighborhood is also a growing arts community. Our arts neighbors now include Camden FireWorks, artist studio spaces, and gallery, The Nick Virgilio Writer’s House, Bee Still Studios, The Camden Shipyard & Maritime Museum, Camden Boat Works, and the Center For Environmental Transformation, along with The Heart of Camden, The Camden Sophisticated Sisters, and The Sacred Heart Church.
