Centenary Stage Company’s Women Playwrights Series Presents "The Persuadables" TONIGHT

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company’s Women Playwrights Series continues its Spring 2021 reading series with Hallie Palladino’s The Persuadables on Wednesday, April 21st at 7:30pm in the Little Theatre. The play follows a group of morally challenged election consultants who are engaged by a conservative billionaire to mount a massive public influence campaign. Using a combination of cutting-edge data mining and old-fashioned disinformation they set about redefining the first amendment.


George Street Playhouse To Hold Star-Studded Virtual Gala On April 29

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse will hold its annual gala online April 29th. The event features performances by an incredible star-studded roster of Friends of George Street Playhouse; will allow guests to mingle via webcam and chat; and represents the latest in George Street’s forays into unique digital programming, highlighted by an ongoing streaming season for 2021.  The Gala will honor former Governor Thomas H. Kean; James N. Heston; and Thomas F. Kelso with the Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Award.

"From Garage To Glory" Nationwide Talent Search Gives Artists A Chance To Win $10,000 and Perform Live At Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

(CLEVELAND, OH) --  The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company are on a mission to find the next great musical act and put them on the road to glory. On April 21, the two launched “From Garage to Glory,” a nationwide talent search that will give aspiring musicians or bands a chance to perform live on stage at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Fest, $10,000 and more.


Kelli Rabke To Premiere New Cabaret Show "Tiny Giants - Petite Powerhouses From Garland To Gaga" at MPAC On May 8th

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Just in time for Mother’s Day, New Jersey native Kelli Rabke (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Miserables, Children of Eden) premieres her brand-new cabaret show celebrating the legendary ladies of song! Tiny Giants – Petite Powerhouses from Garland to Gaga makes it premiere on Saturday, May 8 at 3:00pm and 7:30pm. Tickets are $39-$59.  A livestream of the evening performance is available for $25.


SOPAC Presents Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater On May 15th

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) presents progressive keyboard virtuoso Jordan Rudess in a solo concert that highlights his eclectic and electrifying artistry. On Saturday, May 15 at 8:00pm. Rudess takes the stage in a “hybrid” performance that includes a 100 in-person audience along with a live virtual experience. 


Remember Jones Sets Up Crowdfunding Campaign To Raise Funds For All Original Album

Few artists in the Garden State have ever had the vision or talent of Remember Jones - a true performer in every sense of the world.  From creating star-studded concerts playing complete album takes for celebrated releases by Joe Cocker, R. Kelly, Jeff Buckly, and Amy Winehouse; performing for years in Glen Burtnik's Summer of Love shows; acting in musicals like Jekyll and Hyde, Hair, and Hedwig and the Angry Inch; hosting an Internet talk show during COVID; to his own original music.  He's ready to create a new album of original music and is seeking help from the community with an IndieGogo crowdfunding campaign, which runs until Mid-May.

American Repertory Ballet Announces its Digital Spring Season

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- American Repertory Ballet will kick off its 2021 Digital Spring Season on April 23 with a series of original ballets. These new works will be available to local and global audiences, in the comfort of their homes.  The three pieces featured are all world premieres, each created between January – March 2021. Dancers rehearsed in designated “pods” while choreographers worked both in-studio and over Zoom.


SOPAC Presents Carolyn Dorfman Dance Online April 24

(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- Carolyn Dorfman Dance will appear in a virtual gala performance and benefit on Saturday, April 24 presented by SOPAC. The evening, entitled “Thrive,” will feature three works by the 10-member Company plus interview footage of Artistic Director and Choreographer Carolyn Dorfman speaking with dance writer and critic Robert Johnson. The performance begins at 7:30pm with a pre-glow event for company and donors starting at 6:30pm.

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey recently opened two new members exhibitions in the second-floor community galleries, Irene Rousseau: Stretching the Space and Trish Classe Gianakis: Elements of Emotion. Both shows will be on view through June 13.

(JERSEY CITY, NJ)  -- In Full Color, an award-winning organization that empowers BIPOC through education and the arts, is presenting the seventh season of its eponymous mainstage show. In Full Color 2021 (#IFC2021) continues the arts group’s virtual chapter with 14 artists of color sharing poems, stories, song and dance on May 20 and May 21 at 7:00pm.


Chanelle Scott McCullum sworn in as newest Commissioner on the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ) -- Chanelle Scott McCullum was sworn into a seat on the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners on April 21, 2021. County Commissioner McCullum fills the seat left vacant after the sudden passing of Deputy Director Kenneth Armwood on March 29, 2021. The remaining year of former Deputy Director Armwood’s term will be on the ballot for the November 2, 2021 General Election.

An Interview with Dan Kurtz of The New Deal

Formed in 1999, Toronto, Canada based trio The New Deal, is a pioneer in jam-based electronic music. The group was founded by remaining members Dan Kurtz (bass) and Jamie Shields (keys), along with Darren Shearer (drums) who left tND in 2011. Since its inception, tND has remained committed to its improvisational roots and has served as a model for other jamtronica bands bridging the gap between multiple music genres as well as the border between Canada and the United States.

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, is offering a new creative class especially for adults over the last weekend in July. Creativity Deep Dive, taught by professor and playwright Phoebe Farber, is an opportunity for grown-ups to have the fun of exploring their own imaginations and creative potential. The class is offered from 10:00am-2:00pm on July 26 and 27; lunch will be provided.
