(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- In Full Color, an award-winning organization that empowers BIPOC through education and the arts, is presenting the seventh season of its eponymous mainstage show. In Full Color 2021 (#IFC2021) continues the arts group’s virtual chapter with 14 artists of color sharing poems, stories, song and dance on May 20 and May 21 at 7:00pm.
The diverse cast includes Black, Indigenous, People of Color from all backgrounds as well as several queer individuals including trans, non-binary and genderqueer folx. Artists hail from locales such as Jersey City, NJ; Brooklyn, NY; Kansas City, MO; Los Angeles, CA; Wichita, KS and Hartford, CT. (Missouri, Kansas and Connecticut are represented in the IFC cast for the first time!)
“I’m excited to continue telling new stories and uplifting voices that are rarely heard,” said director Summer Dawn, who started the show in 2015 as a response to a lack of media representation for women of color. “Last year we had an all-star show -- this year we have an almost entirely brand new cast. These talented performers will be exploring topics like Cuban immigration to America, discovering genderqueerness, unapologetic friendship as well as Black resilience and excellence.”
In an era of political turmoil and racism, especially long-continuing violence against Black folx and a recent uptick in aggression towards the Asian community, these conversations come at a critical time.
“We hope that by listening to these stories, people get a better idea of each of these performers’ experiences and the human experience overall,” continued Dawn. “We believe that art creates empathy and empathy creates change -- and we need all three of these things in big doses.”

In Full Color 2021 is Thursday, May 20 and Friday, May 21 at 7:00pm EST. Tickets are $15. Audiences of all genders and colors are welcome. Recommended for viewers 16 and up.
