Vanguard Theater Company Presents: #StopAsianHate On April 12th

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- On Monday, April 12, at 7:30pmEST, Vanguard Theater Company’s Founding Artistic Director Janeece Freeman Clark will speak with rapper and actor Super Smack a/k/a JD Ricafort, to explore the history of Asian Americans and their roles in shaping US identity. The conversation will touch on the rise in anti-Asian hate crimes, the intersection of #StopAsianHate and #BlackLivesMatter, and the role of artists in allyship. 


Hard Questions about Class, Race, Education, and Duty Raised in SCTC's "Pipeline"

Like arts and cultural organizations everywhere, the South Camden Theatre Company faced countless challenges during these last 12+ months. Their 2020 season had been planned as a dual celebration – to mark the 15th anniversary of the SCTC’s beginnings at Sacred Heart Church and the 10th anniversary of their move to The Waterfront South Theatre at 400 Jasper Street. But after staging one show, Abigail/1702: A Twice Told Tale, in February of 2020, the decision was made to postpone the rest of the season.


Luna Stage Premieres New Play Via Text Message: #RIFT by Gabriel Jason Dean

(WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- #RIFT by Gabriel Jason Dean launches this Friday, April 9 at Luna Stage. Part One of the play will be delivered to subscribers’ phones over text message over the next eight weeks. Sign-ups will be accepted through April 23, but capacity is limited. Reservations are required, and are available at lunastage.org.


Musical Theatre Returns To The Algonquin With "Starting Here, Starting Now"

(MANASQUAN, NJ) -- After more than 16 months, the return of live musical theatre has to start somewhere. This month at the Algonquin live musical theatre is “Starting Here, Starting Now.” Four performances are scheduled from April 16-18.

State Theatre Presents Online Italian Wine Tasting On April 24

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents a fun and educational Online Italian Wine Tasting on Saturday, April 24 at 4:00pm ET. This fundraising event, held on Zoom, supports State Theatre’s fall reopening and will be hosted by New York-based Sommelier and Italian Wine Ambassador Michelle Erland. Event options include participation with or without wine delivery as well as an optional food pairing provided and delivered by Stage Left. RSVP deadline for Tasting is Friday, April 16 (Wednesday, April 14 if ordering wine).

Fall 2025 New Jersey Film Festival Preview

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Film Festival returns to Rutgers University September 5 through October 10, 2025. As it has done the last few years, the festival will include select in-person screenings with all films available via video on-demand (VOD) as well. There are also a few screenings available only via VOD. Twenty films will have their New Jersey or Area Premiere (Middlesex County).

Akwaaba Gallery presents Martryce Roach Solo Exhibition Reflecting the Great Migration

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Akwaaba Gallery is proud to present "Patterns: People in Transition," the second solo exhibition of New Jersey born artist, Martryce Roach. The exhibition features a collection of brand new paintings, ranging in size, that explore the rich history of the Great Migration and its synergy with blues music. The exhibition will be on view through August 15, 2025 with an opening reception on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm.

Jazz Concert at Trenton City Museum will Feature the Joe Baione Vibraphone Experience

(TRENTON, NJ) -- Trenton City Museum will present a free jazz concert Friday, July 18, 2025 at the museum's Ellarslie Mansion in Cadwalader Park. Featuring world-renowned vibraphonist Joe Baione, the Joe Baione Vibraphone Experience is the first group to perform in a series of jazz events leading up to the museum's 2026 TRENTON MAKES JAZZ exhibition, in collaboration with the City of Trenton.

(WEST DEPTFORD, NJ) -- The vibrant, story-driven artwork of celebrated Cape May-area visual artist Sydnei SmithJordan will be part of the featured lineup in an exhibition at the Riverwinds Community Center in West Deptford. Running July 1 to August 30, 2025, the dynamic show will include the work of SmithJordan — known for her unique pop fusion style oil paintings of historical figures and future newsmakers— alongside pieces by fellow artists Gloria Gammage Davis, Quinton Greene and Robyn Huber.

One of the town's newest initiatives includes the inaugural Montclair Theater Festival, presented by Vanguard Theater and The Essex County Board Of Commissioners.
