MPAC Performing Arts School presents McDonald’s Salutes Faces of Black History On February 25

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- MPAC Performing Arts School is pleased to present McDonald’s Salutes Faces of Black History, an original musical play by Irving Street Repertory. This virtual presentation will take place on Thursday, February 25 at 7:00pm. The event is free and presented on ZOOM. Registration is required.

America Part Two Releases Video for “Glaciers”

(RED BANK, NJ) -- America Part Two is a NJ-based trio who utilizes their platform to journalize the experience of being a young adult in America today. Social issues, growing up, political climate & love are just a few topics the band discuss in their music. The band has released a video for their latest single “Glaciers” which is available across all streaming services now.


Rock On! This Week's Sound Bites...2/18/21

"We have our fourth album in the works and we're going to be releasing four songs from that as the first EP; the album is due out later this year as it's been in the works for a while but the EP we are aiming to have out by March or April. It is going to be called "Coalescence" and this first EP and the subsequent EPs will be volumes 1, 2 and 3. So, "Coalescence Volume 1" will be out; that's what we've agreed to," says Cold Weather Company keyboardist and vocalist Steve Shimchick as he and guitarist Brian Curry discussed the band, their upcoming multi-part release and more.

Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts Offers Free Audition Workshop Series February 21-April 30

(BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ) -- The Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts  will offer a series of Audition Workshops from February 21 through April 30, including Do You Know Your Scales & Arpeggios?, Tips for Making a Great Audition Video, and New Jersey Youth Symphony Audition Preparation Excerpt Workshops. Instrumentalists entering grades 3-12 from anywhere in the world are invited to take advantage of this series of virtual workshops to hone skills and prepare for orchestral auditions.

Avenel Performing Arts Center hosts Master Class and Dance Auditions for Scholarship Opportunity for New Jersey and New York High School Students On February 25

(AVENEL, NJ) -- On Thursday, February 25, 2021, the Avenel Performing Arts Center will be hosting two masterclass/auditions in the genre of contemporary ballet and offering two $64,000.00 Dance Merit Scholarships to study at La Roche University in Pittsburgh. They will also be offering two $1,000.00 Scholarships for Bodiography's 2021 Six Week Summer Dance Intensive. Dancers residing in New Jersey will audition from 4:00pm-5:30pm and dancers residing in New York will audition from 6:00pm-7:30pm.

Studio Montclair Presents "Womyn's Werq"

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Studio Montclair presents “Womyn’s Werq,” on exhibit from March 5 to April 9 at Studio Montclair Gallery.  The exhibit, described by curator Donna Kessinger as an “old school,” LGBTQIA-friendly, radical feminist art exhibition, features over 60 pieces of artwork including videos, sculpture, and two-dimensional creations in a great variety of mediums, there will also be special installations in the gallery windows. A virtual exhibit that will include audio from the artists will be on the Studio Montclair website.


Guttenberg Green Urban Art Mural Contest Accepting Entries Until April 15

(GUTTENBERG, NJ) -- NR Living, an entity of New Jersey-based National Realty Investment Advisors (NRIA) and a leading developer in luxury real estate on the east coast, invites local artists of New Jersey’s Guttenberg and Hudson County area to participate in the Guttenberg Green Urban Art Mural Contest, now through Thursday, April 15, 2021. In partnership with Guttenberg Arts, NR Living is inviting local artists to submit one-of-a-kind artwork to be considered for a mural, which will be displayed on the exterior of Green Urban, a new luxury lifestyle community located in the heart of Guttenberg’s flourishing arts district.

Jersey City Theater Center Presents "The Box: Reinvention" On Friday

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) presents The Box: Reinvention on Friday, February 19, 2021. Named The Box after the black box theater in JCTC’s Merseles Studios location, this year’s event will be an online Zoom production. (NEWARK, NJ) -- On February 18,  Mayor Ras J. Baraka of Newark, Mayor Dwayne D. Warren of Orange, Mayor Ted R. Green of East Orange, Mayor André Sayegh of Paterson, Mayor Frank Moran of Camden, Mayor Reed Gusciora of Trenton, Mayor Tony Vauss of Irvington, and Mayor Marty Small Sr. of Atlantic City proudly announce the creation of the NJ FAM (New Jersey 40 Acres and a Mule Fund) Their collective goal is to put capital directly in the hands of New Jersey’s Black and Latinx business owners and communities, which traditionally suffer from the greatest barriers in access to these resources.

Jazz Concert at Trenton City Museum will Feature the Joe Baione Vibraphone Experience

(TRENTON, NJ) -- Trenton City Museum will present a free jazz concert Friday, July 18, 2025 at the museum's Ellarslie Mansion in Cadwalader Park. Featuring world-renowned vibraphonist Joe Baione, the Joe Baione Vibraphone Experience is the first group to perform in a series of jazz events leading up to the museum's 2026 TRENTON MAKES JAZZ exhibition, in collaboration with the City of Trenton.

Running July 1 to August 30, 2025, the dynamic show will include the work of SmithJordan — known for her unique pop fusion style oil paintings of historical figures and future newsmakers— alongside pieces by fellow artists Gloria Gammage Davis, Quinton Greene and Robyn Huber.
