Hamilton Stage presents "Thanks, Brother" by Jared Kelner

(RAHWAY, NJ) -- The Hamilton Stage at UCPAC presents Thanks, Brother by Jared Kelner for four performances January 22-24. This is a 90-minute 1-act drama that explores the bond of brotherhood and the traumas that shaped the lives of two men. Through their journey, they find love, understanding and acceptance. The production is directed by Mike Burdick and stars James Walsh and Jared Kelner. It is produced by Actor’s Approach Acting Academy.


Premiere Stages Announces 2021 Bauer Boucher Playwriting Award Winners

(UNION, NJ) -- Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has named current Kean University student Lucien Edme (Class of ’21) and alumnus Megan Hoche (Class of ‘08, ‘10 ) as the winners of the 2021 Bauer Boucher Playwriting Awards, named for longtime donors W. John Bauer and Nancy Boucher. Both winners will receive a cash prize and a one-day developmental reading of their plays with a professional cast and director. This year the readings will be held virtually via Zoom and are free and open to the public. A live Q&A with the playwrights will follow each reading.

Two Rowan University Students Launch "A&R Logic" Series

(GLASSBORO, NJ) -- Two young Rowan University students, Poku (Young A&R) and JayRSwish (Producer/Artist), will spotlight the different talents and creatives in the New Jersey music scene with a new web series - "A&R Logic" available on YouTube. The series will showcase the events of A&R and music production.


Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts Presents Online Master Class with Grammy-winning Guitarist Sharon Isbin On Feb 1

(BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ) -- The Wharton Institute for the Performing Arts (WIPA) Performing Arts School presents a free guitar master class on Monday, February 1 at 7:00pm EST. GRAMMY Award Winner and 2020 Musical America Worldwide Instrumentalist of the Year Sharon Isbin will share her talents with Performing Arts School students online. Lighthouse International Film Society Presents Online Screening Of "Some Kind of Heaven"

Heather Brittain O'Scanlon Releases Trailer For "Victim No. 6"

New Jersey filmmaker Heather Brittain O’Scanlon is finally kicking off the festival run for her latest film, “Victim No. 6”, beginning with the Beaufort International Film Festival in South Carolina this February, where the film has been selected as a finalist.

Jersey Art Exchange (JAX) Merges with Art House Productions

Jersey Art Exchange (JAX) has merged with Art House Productions effective January 2021 to help improve and expand arts education and opportunities for the Jersey City community. The move is a welcome one to both groups and will allow them to better structure resources and to support each other in a more meaningful way. Founded in 2014 and 2001 respectively, JAX and Art House Productions have a combined 25 years of serving the community with access to high-quality arts education experiences. JAX Founder Jacqueline Arias will remain Director of the program at Art House.


Visual Arts Center of New Jersey to Host Artist Talk on Community Storytelling On January 12

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- On Tuesday, January 12 at 7;00pm, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) will host artists Yvette Molina and Elisabeth Smolarz for a virtual discussion titled Community Storytelling Through Contemporary Art. The conversation, which will focus on the artists’ communal storytelling projects on view at VACNJ—Big Bang Votive and The Encyclopedia of Things, respectively—will be moderated by Art Center Curator Mary Birmingham.

Newark Arts To Open Application Process For ArtStart Grants

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Artists, organizations and schools in the City of Newark that are looking for funding to start or support a community-based arts project or education program may be eligible to receive an ArtStart grant from Newark Arts. Applications for the annual mini-grant program will open on Monday, January 25, 2021.


Ocean County Library's "Take & Make" Projects: Portable, Useful and Fun

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Ocean County Library projects for adults, teens, and children are available to take home with you in a “Take & Make” project.  These projects are designed to be useful, novel and decorative. No special skills are needed. Projects are designed for children and families, teens, adults.  “Take & Make” materials are packed in specially-marked bags which are available at individual branches while supplies last.
