The Theater Project Presents "Wonderful Life" Live Via Zoom December 11-13

(UNION, NJ) -- For over twenty years, It's A Wonderful Life: The Radio Play has been an integral part of The Theater Project’s repertoire––and a Union holiday tradition for the last five. While so many things must change in celebrating the holidays this year, TTP is offering its yearly holiday staple to help keep community traditions alive.


Playwright Adrienne Kennedy featured in a Virtual Festival at McCarter Theatre

Adrienne Kennedy is an 89-year-old playwright who is fierce, prolific, and considered one of American theatre’s most innovative voices. In 1964, Kennedy won the first of her three Obies for her very first play, Funnyhouse of a Negro. Her most recent play, Etta and Ella on the Upper West Side, will have its public premiere December 12, 2020 as the final presentation in The Work of Adrienne Kennedy: Inspiration & Influence, a festival presented by Princeton’s McCarter Theatre Center in partnership with Washington, D.C.’s Round House Theatre.

A GRAMMY Milestone for Westminster Choir College

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Choir College’s impact on the choral world was certainly evident when the 2021 GRAMMY Award nominations were announced last week.  For the first time, a Westminster graduate participated in each of the five recordings nominated in the Best Choral Performance category. Additionally, Westminster alumnae were featured in two recordings nominated in the Best Opera Recording category.

Jersey City Nutcracker: The Movie

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Set to Tchaikovsky’s renowned orchestral score, Jersey City Nutcracker tells the story of two children’s city adventure, following them through fantasy, adversity, and celebration, with lessons about friendship and community along the way. Boasting entrancing animated projections by Jersey City based projection artists, Laia Cabrerra and Isabelle Duverger, and a delightful Libretto co-written by Alyssa Souder and Samuel Pott, this year, the story takes on a whole new magic, thanks to the inspiration of filmmakers Stephanie Daniels and Mark Smith.

Visual Arts Center of New Jersey to Host Artist Talk on Collaborative Practice On December 8

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- On Tuesday, December 8 at 7:00pm, the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey (VACNJ) will host Ghost of a Dream, DARNstudio, and Hillerbrand+Magsamen for a virtual discussion about the process of creating art through collaboration. Each artist group will give a brief presentation of their work and will then participate in a conversation on their processes moderated by VACNJ Curator, Mary Birmingham.  


Newark Announces Completion Of Two Public Murals

(NEWARK, NJ) -- On December 3, Mayor Ras J. Baraka announced the completion of two new public murals in partnership with the Social Justice Public Art initiative, #MuralsforJustice. The murals are an initiative led by City of Newark Arts and Cultural Affairs Director fayemi shakur, to create art that speaks to the call for racial justice, equity and representation. The project began in June with two Black Lives Matter-inspired ground murals and includes a mural of Sojourner Truth (located on Edison Place) by artist Grace Lynne Haynes created in collaboration with Project for Empty Space.

New Jersey Offers Free Support for Retailers Shifting to Online Sales this Holiday Season

(TRENTON, NJ) -- The New Jersey Business Action Center (NJBAC), in partnership with New Jersey’s Small Business Development Centers (NJSBDC), will offer free tools and resources to help retail businesses capitalize on the approaching holiday season amid COVID-19. The services are designed to help small businesses that typically rely on in-person transactions shift to e-commerce.


NJPAC Hosts Annual Kwanzaa Celebrations Online

(NEWARK, NJ) -- For over 20 years,  New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) has provided a platform for families to learn and celebrate the cultural traditions associated with Kwanzaa. This year NJPAC welcomes everyone from all around the world to participate in the annual celebration which is VIRTUAL and FREE!
