One-Man Version Of "A Christmas Carol" Comes To Algonquin Arts Theatre

(MANASQUAN, NJ) -- Charles Dickens' classic seasonal story A Christmas Carol returns to the Algonquin stage in a one-man production with six performances between December 11-20. In the spirit readings performed by Dickens himself and many subsequent single-actor performances, actor Jan Topoleski will bring the beloved Christmas tale to life.

Topoleski is a local theatre veteran and Algonquin crowd favorite. He has directed many productions of Scrooge! The Musical and receiving rave reviews as Ebeneezer Scrooge in the Algonquin's 2018 production of A Christmas Carol: The Musical.

Other Algonquin credits include leading roles as King Arthur in Camelot, The Old Man in A Christmas Story The Musical, Juan Peron in Evita, Lord Farquaad in Shrek: The Musical, Lancelot in SPAMALOT and Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha. He has directed Algonquin productions of A Few Good Men, Noises Off, The Producers, Carousel, South Pacific and The 39 Steps.

Performances are on Friday, December 11 at 7:30pm; Saturday, December 12 at 2:00pm; Sunday, December 13 at 3:00pm; Friday, December 18 at 7:30pm; Saturday, December 19 at 2:00pm; and Sunday, December 20 at 3:00pm.  Tickets are available for purchase online.

The production is recommended for ages 10 & up. Children under age 4 are not admitted. Final running time is to be determined, but estimated to be 2 hours including 1 intermission.




  • Patrons should not attend a performance and contact the Box Office to request a refund if:

    1) They feel ill in any way.

    2) Patron or a member of the household has tested positive for COVID-19 or is awaiting COVID-19 test results.

    3) They are under quarantine following COVID-19 exposure.

    4) They have traveled to a state on the NJ quarantine list in the last 14 days.



  • Patrons and staff must wear masks at all times.

  • Both outer lobby and inner lobby doors will open 45 minutes prior to showtime (no indoor waiting area is available).

  • Attendance is capped at 125 per show. Seating will be distributed throughout the entire theatre to maximize distance between patrons. Patrons are required to sit in their ticketed seats.

  • Performers will be at least 12 feet from the audience. Row A, center, is not available for purchase. Performers are not required to wear masks on stage.

  • All areas will be cleaned and sanitized prior to each performance.

  • Our HVAC system will run constantly to circulate and filter air. As the weather turns colder, this will make the theatre feel cooler. Please bring a sweater.

  • Lobby Restrooms will be restricted to a capacity of 3 people.

  • Patrons are required to distance (6 feet) while waiting online for entry, restrooms or at our concession stand.

  • Intermission: For shows that have intermission, please do not congregate in the lobby or aisles. Please stay at your seating area or take a quick walk outside. With a 125-person audience, restroom lines will move very quickly. Intermission will not be shorter than 10 minutes from lights up to lights down.

Algonquin Arts Theatre is located at 60 Abe Voorhees Drive in Manasquan, New Jersey.
