West Windsor Arts Council Creates Art Kits for a Cause

West Windsor Arts Council Creates Art Kits for a Cause

(PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ) -- Like many arts and small nonprofit organizations, West Windsor Arts Center has navigated this difficult year by developing virtual programming and at-home activities to keep its friends and supporters engaged. Yet, at the same time, the organization never lost sight of the fact that there are so many people in its communities experiencing even greater challenges.

With that in mind, West Windsor Arts Center created “Art Kits for a Cause” and will distribute them to those in need through a partnership with HomeFront, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to end homelessness in Central New Jersey. The kits, affordably priced at $30 apiece, contain all the supplies needed to make two different projects. While they make great gifts that benefit the arts center, they can also be purchased to donate to participants of HomeFront’s ArtSpace program and families living at the HomeFront campus.

“Art has the power to bring joy, to transform our lives, and to provide us with a tool for expression, which is so important right now,” says Aylin Green, executive director of the West Windsor Arts Center. “This is a win-win-win. When you purchase an art kit, you have the chance to enrich the lives of others, as well as your own, while supporting the arts. The gifts just keep giving when they are donated to HomeFront as well.”

Each kit includes all of the supplies needed for an acrylic painting project and a polymer clay beading project with a printed instruction sheet, as well as a link to videos featuring West Windsor Arts Council teaching artists providing step-by-step guidance.

RWJ Barnabas Health in Hamilton sponsored the first 25 kits for distribution at its cancer center. “We are grateful to RWJ Barnabas Health for their support of this project,” says Green.  “Art Kits for a Cause are beautifully designed and make great gifts for artists and creators of all ages. Buy one for yourself, your friends and family, and a local family in need.”

For more information, or to purchase a kit, visit the online store at westwindsorarts.org.

The West Windsor Arts Council (952 Alexander Road, Princeton Junction) offers art and cultural events, workshops, and classes for all ages and in all disciplines online, at the West Windsor Arts Center, and in the community.
