Eddie Skuller Returns With Reggae Single

At 60, singer/songwriter Eddie Skuller emerges from a ten year hiatus with a trippy reggae single. “Trust the Rhythm Track” emerged from Eddie’s desire to “write something that reflects the current state of the world, and the current state of my mind.” The recurring theme of life as a balancing act flows through the lyrics, “Walked on the tightrope, couldn’t get too high, now that I’m elevated there’s a circus in my mind.” The theme is mirrored in the cover art image and accompanying lyric video featuring vintage clips of tightrope walkers.

For this trippy dub track, Skuller enlisted the reggae dub master Jim The Boss to provide the “riddim” to the song and oversee production. Jim has recorded renowned global reggae artists Horace Andy, Cornel Campbell, Major Mackerel, Sly and Robbie and Yellam.

With “Trust the Rhythm Track” Skuller returns to his early musical roots. Re-inspired by his first band Moot, a rhythmic post-punk group that relied heavily on drums and percussion and frequently played CBGB’s. Later, Skuller worked to build a solo career and enlisted a strong team including Grace Jone’s manager, Jon Bon Jovi’s vocal coach and Cyndi Lauper’s attorney. By the 1990’s Skuller received acclaim in the indie rock world working with legendary guitarist Robert Quine (Richard Hell & The Voidoids). He garnered reviews in the press including the New York Times, the Village Voice, Billboard, and the Star Ledger among others and was a regular at NYC venues such as Cafe Sin-é, Mercury Lounge and the Living Room. He currently is a guest singer with the acclaimed bi-monthly tribute series The Losers Lounge at Joe’s Pub in New York.

Balancing family, work and music, Skuller decided to take a hiatus from writing and recording. “I walked away from performing after 30 creative and exciting years of making music to focus my energy on supporting another artist. That artist grew and evolved to be acclaimed rocker Jack Skuller, who co-wrote, arranged and sings back up on the new single “Trust the Rhythm Track.”

“Trust the Rhythm Track” was recorded at Jim The Boss’ studio Hoboken HiFi in Secaucus, NJ with his studio band the HiFi Rockers including bassist Steve Capecci. Capecci has played for and shared the stage with many verteran reggae musicians and singers such as Larry McDonald, Combo Lulo, The Skatalites, The Pilfers, Uzimon and Johnny Osbourne.
