RVCC Comedy Night to Benefit Children's Specialized Hospital

originally published: 03/06/2020

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg will present the third annual “April Fools” Comedy Night & Benefit show featuring Comedian Azeem Muhammad on March 24 from 7:00pm-9:00pm in the College’s Nash Theatre. Proceeds from the event, which is open to the public, will be donated to the Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick.

Appropriate for mature audiences ages 17 and older, the event is being sponsored by RVCC’s Student Life Activities and Planning (SLAP) Board, a student-led events-planning organization. The evening will begin with dinner and non-alcoholic “mocktails,” starting at 6:30pm, sponsored by RVCC’s HOPE (Health Oriented Peer Educators) Club.

Azeem Muhammad has performed on Comedy Central, BET and with Allah Made Me Funny.  For nearly 20 years, Azeem’s comedy has brought laughter to millions of people worldwide at colleges, corporate events and religious functions. In 2005 he received the MPAC Image Award for his stand-up performance on the critically acclaimed Allah Made Me Funny: Official Muslim Comedy Tour, which provided an opportunity for a healthy dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims. His ability to build bridges across gender, ethnic, and religious lines has earned him the title of “holistic healer through humor.” Many in the media describe Azeem’s humor as “conscious comedy” because of his ability to intertwine touchy subjects in a politically correct society with charismatic candor.

Tickets, at $10 for students, $20 for general admission, include admission to both the dinner and comedy show. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at https://bit.ly/38ZVV7n.
