Laiona Michelle To Return To George Street Playhouse For Special Performance

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Broadway veteran Laiona Michelle, writer and star of the critically acclaimed Little Girl Blue - The Nina Simone Musical—which enjoyed a record-breaking sold-out run in 2019—will return to George Street Playhouse March 19 at 7:30pm for a momentous one night concert at George Street’s new home in the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center, celebrating the music of Nina Simone and classic Broadway.


Dunbar Repertory Company Presents "Camp Logan"

​​​​​​​(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- This Black History Month, the Middletown Arts Center presents the Dunbar Repertory Company production of Camp Logan, the NAACP Image Award-winning play based on events of the 1917 Houston Riots. Written by Celeste Bedford Walker and directed by Darrell Lawrence Willis, Sr.,  performances take place February 21-22 at 8:00pm, February 23 at 4:00pm; February 28-29 at 8:00pm, and March 1 at 4:00pm.


Holmdel Theatre Company Wants Your #RENTStory

(HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Fredi Walker-Browne, the original JoAnne Jefferson in the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT, is bringing #RENTStories to Holmdel Theatre Company on May 8th and your story could be a part of it! If RENT has impacted your life in some way, there's no day but today to tell your #RENTStory. The deadline is Wednesday, February 19th at 11:59pm.

Makin Waves Record of the Week: self-titled by Hair Magic

(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- Step out of your DeLorean time machine and into Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City for 80’s LIVE, a revved up high-energy live-on-stage concert production show taking you back on a fun nostalgic romp through the greatest hits of the 1980s. The creators of Motor City Live and Disco Live invite you to see, hear and feel the decade’s most beloved and enduring music taking center stage Sundays at 7:00pm in Sound Waves in Hard Rock Atlantic City beginning on March 1.


Westminster Conservatory Annual Showcase Features Community Ensembles and Artists on February 23

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Westminster Conservatory will present its annual showcase featuring Westminster Community ensembles and students on Sunday, February 23 at 3:00pm in Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall on the campus of Princeton University. The performers will be the Westminster Community Orchestra conducted by Ruth Ochs and the Westminster Conservatory Children’s Choirs conducted by director Patricia Thel, Chaequan Anderson, Yvonne Macdonald, and John Paul Velez. Other performers will be Westminster Choir College students enrolled in Westminster’s Opera Workshop, and winners of the Westminster Conservatory Concerto Competition: Ethan Feng, clarinet; Abrielle Scott, flute; and Eugene Seong, tenor.

The Ballet Folclorico Nacional de Mexico Comes To MPAC

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mexico's cultural ambassadors, Ballet Folclorico Nacional de Mexico de Silvia Lozano, perform at MPAC on Friday, March 13 at 8:00pm.  They are an institution tasked with the dissemination, preservation and promotion of the Culture of Mexico, both at home and abroad. "Aerosol: Graffiti | Street Art | New Jersey | Now" at Morris Museum

Graffiti as you've probably never seen it before: in a museum. Morris Museum has opened its doors – and walls – to some of the greatest graffiti and street artists in New Jersey. The exhibition celebrates the vitality of the aerosol art in our state today through the work of 12 established and emergent artists, painted directly on the museum’s walls. Check out Jesse and Dave’s visit to Morristown to talk to three of the artists about this unconventional exhibit, which runs until March 15th.


Northern NJ Community Foundation Announces Scholarships Available to Attend Creative Placemaking Leadership Summit

(HACKENSACK, NJ) -- The Northern New Jersey Community Foundation (NNJCF), a leader in creative placemaking in the region, is offering scholarships to attend The National Consortium for Creative Placemaking's Northeast Creative Placemaking Leadership Summit from March 26 to 27 in Philadelphia.  Residents of Bergen County, New Jersey, who are artists, non-profit, municipal, arts, or community leaders, or whose work or practice is designed to enhance communities, are eligible for a scholarship up to $250 to attend the Summit.  Further information about the scholarships and an application are available online.


McCarter Theatre Center receives substantial grant from the NJ Council for the Humanities

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- McCarter Theatre Center has announced a $20,000 Incubation Grant from The New Jersey Council for the Humanities (NJCH). This grant will give McCarter the opportunity to present a variety of multidisciplinary events in its lobbies and public spaces in order to encourage insightful and illuminating discussions where art, culture, and diverse perspectives intersect.
