
(MILLVILLE, NJ) -- Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center will host their annual PAWs for Art event on Saturday, September 7 from 10:00am to 5:00pm. PAWS for Art at WheatonArts is a free admission event celebrating our four-legged friends and their owners. Hosted in partnership with the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter, this outdoor event includes the Wheaton Barks Dog Show, animal & family friendly activities, retail exhibitors, local non-profit animal rescue organizations, and much more. Refreshments will be available for purchase from local food vendors. It will be held rain or shine. Admission is free all day, part of the "WheatonArts Family Days! Presented by PNC Arts Alive!" program.
For pet safety, all dogs are required to be on a short, no longer than four-foot, lead. No retractable leashes. Dogs are permitted on the grounds and in the Artist Studios during the event. The SJRAS will provide leash checks at the gate and dog sitters outside of the Museum of American Glass, Museum Stores, and Education Studio. Water stations for dogs will be located throughout the grounds. See a WheatonArts or SJRAS associate for pet waste bags.

PAWS for Art Highlights Include:
Clay Paw Prints - 10:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Stop by the Ceramics Studio with your pup to create a unique commemorative piece. A Studio Assistant will help you press your pup’s paw into a clay disk. Paw prints will be bisque fired and available for pick up approximately six weeks after the event. All particpants will receive a come-back pass to pick up their piece! Stick around and interact with the WheatonArts’ resident and volunteer artists in the Ceramic & Flamework Studio! Watch live demonstrations and ask questions about their creative process. This building is pup-friendly!
FREE Family Art Activities - 11:00am to 4:00pm - Located to the left of the General Store
Toilet Paper Roll Cat Balls – A safer alternative to the traditional yarn ball, these toilet paper roll cat balls are easy to make and are not a choking hazard to your favorite feline friend.
Dog Tug Toys – Join us as we upcycle old clothes into tug toys your dog will love. We will us long strips of fabric to create sturdy braids to use in games of fetch or tug-of-war.
Animal Collage – Create a multi-media animal-collage using a variety of papers including construction paper, magazines, newspaper, and scrapbook paper. Begin your college with one of our contour line animal drawings and fill it in with your unique collage elements.
Agility and Obedience Demonstration - 2:00pm. Join the Pawshakers of Cumberland County 4-H in the arena for a fun demonstration showing off agility and obedience training amongst different pups.
WheatonBARKS Dog Show - 2:30pm. Presented in collaboration with the City of Millville’s Recreation Department – Trophies will be awarded in both Adult and Children’s classes in the following categories: Best Dressed Pet, Best Golden Oldie, Cutest Wiggle & Wag, Wettest Kiss, Prettiest Eyes, Crazy Hair Day (Dog & Owner), Best Six Legs (Dog & Owner), Best in Show, Top Dog, and Sportsmanship.
Pet First Aid & CPR Demonstration and Q & A with Dr. Ryan Gorman - Stay in the arena after the WheatonBarks Dog Show (approx. 3:30pm) for a this life-saving demonstration with Dr. Ryan Gorman, owner and veterinarian for the Animal Clinic of Millville.
In the Glass Studio...
Blow a Glass Bubble - 10:00am to 11:00am. Blow until your bubble pops! Walk-ins welcome for this quick & free experience. A physical piece will NOT be kept at the end.
LARGE-scale Glass Dog Bone Demo - 1:00pm to 2:00pm. This narrated demonstration is accompanied by a special glass dog bone giveaway! Be sure to be in the Studio at 2:00pm when the winner is announced. Door prize forms will be collected up until the end of the demonstration. Must be present to win.
