originally published: 03/05/2019

(CHERRY HILL, NJ) -- The South Jersey Pops, the area’s own non-profit orchestra, will guide its audience on a musical journey of the planet we call home  when it presents “Expedition: Exploring Earth” on March 24 at Lenape High School in Medford. The concert, which begins at 3:00pm, will feature classics from the masters and pop culture touchstones in an homage to Earth and those who have explored it in fact and fiction.

South Jersey Pops’ musical director Robert Bradshaw of Haddonfield will wield the conductor’s baton as the orchestra performs Dvorak’s New World Symphony and In the Hall of the Mountain King, Sibelius’ Finlandia, and music from The Lion KingPocohontasThe Lord of the Rings,Indiana Jones and more.

The orchestra will be accompanied by guest vocalists Danielle Harley-Scott of Lindenwold, who has performed with the Grand Theatre in Williamstown and The Ritz Theatre Company in Oaklyn; and Elio Lleo, a New Jersey native who has loaned his voice to the Westminster Symphonic Choir. Elizabeth Steiner of Philadelphia, executive director and teaching artist for the Lyra Society, will guest on the harp.

“This is the third of four exploration-themed concerts this season, and they’ve been tremendously popular, with sold out crowds,” says South Jersey Pops president Christian Stebbins. “We’re encouraging people to buy tickets in advance to ensure they get a seat and to avoid long lines at the door.”

“Expedition: Exploring Earth” begins at 3:00pm; doors open 30 minutes before the performance. Admission is $10 for adults, free for children 13 and under. Tickets are available for purchase online. Lenape High Schools is located at 235 Hartford Road in Medford, New Jersey.
