All tickets on sale for NJSO’s 2018–19 season

(NEWARK, NJ) -- All tickets are now on sale for the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s 2018–19 season. Classical, pops and family concerts feature works that bring to life great stories, poems and speeches, from Kate Whitley’s Malala Yousafzai-inspired Speak Out to Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade to sarod master Amjad Ali Khan’s Samaagam to Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Disney’s Mary Poppins performed live to picture.

State Theatre Presents 4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents 4U: A Symphonic Celebration of Prince, the first and only officially approved symphonic production by The Prince Estate on Thursday September 6, 2018 at 8:00pm. Questlove -- avid Prince fan and a member of The Roots -- has helped curate the music and orchestral arrangements that will be played by the symphony. Tickets range from $45-$95.


8th Annual Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival To Take Place On August 18

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- The eighth Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival will be held on the Green on Saturday, August 18, from noon until 10:00pm. The annual free concert is made possible by the generous support of many sponsors who are well-known in the region. Performers include Rhythm in Blue, Bria Skonberg, LaBamba and the Hubcaps, Bernard Allison Group, and Davy Knowles.

​​​​​​​The Newton Theatre Presents a Silent Film Halloween With A Live Orchestra

(NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents a trio of ghostly silent films paired with the original historic orchestral scores on Saturday, October 27 at 3:00pm. Travel back to the early 1900s to cheer and hiss with Buster Keaton in The Haunted House (1921), Laurel and Hardy in Habeus Corpus (1928), and Charlie Chaplin in One A.M. (1916). Between the films, enjoy the rollicking rhythms of the early 20th century as played by The Peacherine Ragtime Orchestra, featuring favorites by Scott Joplin, Irving Berlin, and more! Fun for the whole family!

Visual Arts Center of New Jersey Returns to the Summit Farmers Market in August

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey and local artists will return to the Farmers Market in Summit after a successful outing that captivated attendees in July. During that outing, visitors to the Art Center’s tent were asked to participate in a shared vision board and were given instruction on how to create mandala drawings. On Sunday, August 19, from 8:00am–1:00pm, artists Nan Ring and Asha Ganpat will further engage the community in discussions about artistic process while creating and displaying original artwork.


BSB Gallery presents "Love Is The Message" an exhibit by Jamel Shabazz

(TRENTON, NJ) -- BSB Gallery presents "Love Is The Message" - an exhibit by Jamel Shabazz from August 9 through September 22, 2018.  The exhibit highlights the works of documentary, fashion, and street photographer Jamel Shabazz from 1980-2018. A special opening reception with the artist is planned for August 25th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Shabazz is also scheduled to conduct an Artist Talk on Saturday, September 8 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm.

Newark Mayor To Speak At Amiri Baraka Poetry Camp On Friday

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka will speak at the ceremony to complete the four-week Amiri Baraka Poetry Camp on Friday, August 10, at 11:00am at the Cityplex12 Cinema, located at 360-394 Springfield Avenue in the city's Central Ward. For the past four weeks, the camp has worked with four classes of 12-18 youth, drawn from The HUBB, the Boys & Girls Club of Newark, and F.H.A.K. 2.0, a summer camp located in the Clubhouse Center of Hope.

Food Truck Festival Returns To Vineland

(VINELAND, NJ) -- Come hungry as the Food Truck Festival on The Ave returns to downtown Vineland for the second consecutive year on Sunday, August 26, rain or shine, from 11:00am to 7:00pm, at Landis Avenue and the Boulevard. This sizzling mega-event, admission to shich is free, is organized by Main Street Vineland and sponsored by Members 1st of NJ Federal Credit Union. It will feature almost 20 food trucks, a beer and wine tent, and a packed line-up of continuous entertainment and activities highlighted again this year by popular request by singing sensation Dawson Coyle of “The Voice.”
