Garden State Film Festival Partners With Frontlines Of Freedom For New Film/Discussion Series

originally published: 01/17/2018

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) has partnered with Frontlines of Freedom for a new innovative monthly film screening and discussion series.

Frontlines of Freedom is a weekly syndicated military talk radio show designed to address and discuss the most pressing issues facing our armed forces, veterans, and their families. It is the largest show of its kind in the nation. Host Lt. Colonel Denny Gillem, U.S. Army (Retired), is a West Point graduate and highly decorated combat veteran who also served as a Mideast War Planner during his 22-years on active duty. This compelling new collaboration was the brain child of GSFF founder Diane Raver and inspired by Oprah Winfrey's Book-of-the-Month Club and is designed to provoke critical thinking and stimulate lively, respectful discussion about important issues.

Listeners will be encouraged to view a recommended independent film from a past GSFF that relates to the show's topics. The monthly film will then be reviewed and discussed during the last episode of each month by Colonel Gillem and a representative from GSFF. Besides the current war and military readiness, Frontlines of Freedom addresses military families, veteran's activities and homeland security issues. Guests on the show include Cabinet members, generals, admirals, and officers of all ranks, enlisted members, politicians, and family members.

A schedule and list of radio stations that air Frontlines of Freedom can be found here.

The Garden State Film Festival will welcome celebrities, filmmakers and fans back to its original home in Asbury Park, from Thursday, March 22nd through Sunday, March 25th at many locations for the Festival's 16th Anniversary Celebration. The four-day weekend event celebrates the best in international cinema and will feature networking opportunities, hands-on workshops, an open talent casting call, screenplay competition winner table read, intriguing and informative panel discussions, and entertaining and fun parties - all in addition to the over 220 film screenings scheduled throughout the Festival. GSFF is New Jersey's Premier Independent Film Festival and was named winner of the 2017 Global Excellence Awards 'Best Independent Film Festival - East Coast' by TMT News. For more information about the Garden State Film Festival, please visit the GSFF website at www.gsff.org.
