(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Gayborhood JerseyCity and Humanity Pride Productions, will be cohosting the 16th Annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival, which starts at noon, on August 27th 2016. The Pride Festival is a constant expression of Jersey City’s vow to continue to embody acceptance and the diversity that strengthens its LGBTQIA community and allies; which is why it will take place on Newark Avenue, in the core of Jersey City’s downtown area, between Grove Street and Jersey Avenue.
Jersey City is one of the most diverse cities and home of the largest LGBTQIA community in the state. Over 9,000 attendees from all over the Hudson County and New York metropolitan area showed their pride last year, making it one of the largest festivals in Northern New Jersey.
This year, Pride Week will begin August 18th 2016 with a variety of events and entertainment leading up to the day of the festival. The Jersey City Flag raising and press conference featuring the great Mayor of Jersey City, Steven Fulop, will initiate Pride Week, on Thursday, August 18th at 4:00pm. This event will be followed by a Meet and Greet Mixer, sponsored by the New Jersey Democratic LGBT Caucus & the Hudson County Young Democrats.
The festival is on August 27th 2016 showcasing an amazing line-up of entertainment this year with our mistress of ceremonies, Harmonica Sunbeam, otherwise known as, the queen of comedy. Ab Soto, Laura Cheadle, and Larger Than Life will perform, while DJ’s Joe Hemsing and Fernando D. Carnevalli will keep everyone moving and grooving.
Following the festival, the Jersey City LGBT Pride After Party celebration will begin at Transmission, 150 Bay Street, at 8pm with DJ Chauncey D. Prepare to bring energy and flags because Jersey City Pride is not known for being a drag. For more information visit jerseycitypride.com.
