(MADISON, NJ) —   The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will hold a canine casting session for the role of The Dog in its upcoming production of The Royal Family.   The comedy by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber begins performances on May 27th and continues through June 21 with a possible extension to June 28.

The Theatre is seeking a small “exotic looking” dog; or two medium-sized similar looking dogs; or one very large dog, to make a cameo appearance in every performance of The Royal Family.  Dogs who reside in the Madison area are preferred.  Transportation to and from the theatre can be arranged.   The animals will be led on stage on a leash.

Candidates should be well-behaved, not disturbed by bright lighting, people, or loud noises.

If your canine is ready for their stage debut, please send a photo of the dog, your name and contact information via email to [email protected] by Tuesday May 19th, 2015.  Also, please specify the size of your dog (miniature, mid-size, large).

The acclaimed Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey is an independent, professional theatre company located on the Drew University campus. The Outdoor Stage is located on the campus of the College of St. Elizabeth and the Theatre’s support and education facility is in Florham Park.
