
Douglas is an award-winning actor, singer, and producer. She most recently appeared in New York in the world premiere of Kara Lee Corthron's Julius by Design. Her regional credits include three plays by Regina Taylor: Drowning Crow at Goodman Theatre, Crowns at Pasadena Playhouse, and Night in Tunisia at George Street Playhouse, where she also played Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill and was the first African-American to perform the role of Dr. Bearing in Wit. On Broadway, she appeared in 3 Penny Opera, Into the Woods, and The Tap Dance Kid. Her film credits include Tap, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, and Jason's Lyric, and her television credits include starring in the long-running family sitcom The Parent 'Hood and the television film Sounder, as well as numerous guest starring roles. She is a two-time NAACP Image Award winner.
In This House is written by Mike Reid (composer, co-bookwriter), Sarah Schlesinger (lyricist, co-bookwriter), and Jonathan Bernstein (co-bookwriter). In This House tells the story of two couples—one at the beginning, the other at the end of their time together—who meet accidentally and spend an evening together in a deserted house on New Year's Eve. Tony Award-winner Chuck Cooper (August Wilson's Jitney at Two River Theater, Broadway's The Life) plays Henry Arden. Jeff Kready (Broadway's Billy Elliott and Les Misérables) and Margo Seibert (the world premiere of Orestes: A Tragic Romp at Two River Theater, Mary Zimmerman's production of Candide) play the younger couple, Johnny and Annie.
