(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Modern dance masters MOMIX return to Mayo Performing Arts Center with a "greatest hits" program entitled "VIVA MOMIX," on Saturday, February 1 at 8:00pm. Transporting audiences from their everyday lives to a fantasy world through its trademark use of magical lighting and imagery, MOMIX has thrilled fans in over 22 countries and has been featured on stage, screen and television. Tickets range from $29-$59.

Viva MOMIX Forever is a mix-and-match variety of sections from Botanica, Alchemia, Remix, Opus Cactus, and Lunar Sea. Small vignettes make up the 2-act performance, mixing traditional MOMIX styles of illusion, beauty, magic, fun, and inventiveness. In celebration of MOMIX’s 35th Anniversary season, Viva MOMIX Forever is a compilation of company favorites taken from all six of their shows. Additionally, four new pieces were created especially for the birthday celebration on June 10th at Teatro Nazionale in Milan, Italy. It was on June 10th, 1980 that Moses Pendleton performed the first ever MOMIX show at Teatro Nazionale, therefore this event and location were of special significance for the company.
Known internationally for presenting work of exceptional inventiveness and physical beauty, MOMIX is a company of dancer-illusionists under the direction of Moses Pendleton. In addition to stage performances world-wide, MOMIX has worked in film and television, recently appearing in a national commercial for Hanes underwear and a Target ad that premiered during the airing of the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. With performances on PBS’s “Dance in America” series, France’s Antenne II, and Italian RAI television, the company’s repertory has been broadcast to 55 countries. Joining the Montreal Symphony in the Rhombus Media film of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, winner of an International Emmy for Best Performing Arts Special, the company’s performance was distributed on laser disc by Decca Records. MOMIX was also featured in IMAGINE, one of the first 3-D IMAX films to be released in IMAX theaters world-wide. MOMIX dancers Cynthia Quinn and Karl Baumann, under Moses Pendleton’s direction, played the role of “Bluey” in the feature film FX2; and White Widow, co-choreographed by Moses Pendleton and Cynthia Quinn, was featured in Robert Altman’s movie,The Company. Participating in the Homage a Picasso in Paris, MOMIX was also selected to represent the US at the European Cultural Center at Delphi.
Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) is located at 100 South Street in Morristown, New Jersey. MPAC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, presents a wide range of programs that entertain, enrich, and educate the diverse population of the region and enhance the economic vitality of Northern New Jersey.
