(BELMAR, NJ) -- The sand is warm, sun is high and water is crisp and clear on the beach in Belmar. Dust off your shovel and pail, slab on some sunscreen and venture to the 18th Avenue Beach on Wednesday, July 13th as Frank Sementa and D'Jais present the 30th Annual NJ Sandcastle Contest.
Perfect for friends and family, spend the day enjoying the salty summer air with fun games, dancing, music and prizes. Presented by D'Jais and the Belmar Tourism Commission , the contest is free and open to all ages of sandcastle engineers. Builders will have a chance to win prize baskets among six different categories: ages 7 & under, ages 8-11, ages 12-15, 16 & over, Best Group and Best Family. Team up in a group or compete as a solo artist as judges also seek out the top tower to award "Best on the Beach." Join the fun with Frank Sementa's dance party on the beach, starting at noon as the judges make their rounds. Stroll the boardwalk, browse local craft items and the newest Jeeps from World Jeep in Shrewsbury and sample tasty treats from Wendy's mobile unit.
Registration starts at 8 am on the 18th Avenue Beach, with free admission to the beach for participation. Judging begins at noon. Rain date is scheduled for July 14th.
