A look at the free movies summer series at State Theatre New Jersey(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey brings back its popular Free Summer Movies Series for 2017. Movies featured in the series include The Incredibles on July 5, Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory on July 11, Finding Dory on July 18, Zootopia on July 25, Mary Poppins on August 1, and The Secret Life of Pets on August 8. Showings for each movie will be at 10:30am and 7:00pm. Tickets are free.

The entire series is free of charge to the community, offering young people the chance to enjoy these kid-friendly films, whether with their families, summer camps, or other groups. The movies will be shown at the historic State Theatre New Jersey, a 1921 movie palace that has become one of New Jersey’s premiere venues for live performance. Moviegoers will enjoy an unparalleled experience, beginning with the State Theatre’s state-of-the-art HD digital cinema projection system, which includes a 46’ Stewart film screen, a Barco projector, and digital surround sound. In the 1,850-seat restored theater, audiences can sit downstairs or enjoy the view from up in the balcony, just as in the glory days of Hollywood.

“We are so happy to bring back the free movie series, giving local families of all backgrounds a great summer experience free of charge,” said Tom Carto, President & CEO of State Theatre New Jersey.

All the featured movies are family friendly. The entire community—adults and children alike—can enjoyevergreen classics such as Mary Poppins and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and newer favorites such as Zootopia and Finding Dory.

The State Theatre’s mission is to enrich the lives of people from diverse backgrounds, and the theater aims to stay true to their mission through the free movie series. The Free Summer Movie Series is a part of the Theatre’s initiative to provide families in New Brunswick with entertaining activities. Other programs include: an annual Family Day, free storytelling events called “Milk and Cookies,” and Relaxed Performances that are specially designed for audiences in the autism spectrum. Many of these programs are offered free of charge or at very low cost to make them accessible to all.
