Comedian Kate Clinton to Perform at RVCC Theatre(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg will present comedian Kate Clinton in Wake Up Call, Friday, February 19, at 8:00pm. A stand-up humorist, activist, actress and author, Kate Clinton will wake up -- and shake up -- audiences with her punchlines and tickle them with her veracity, the presentation is part of the Theatre’s Major Artists Series.

With a career spanning more than 30 years, Clinton is at the top of her game, ready to banter her way through presidential campaigns, LGBTQ movements in transition, sports, religion, and the media.

Clinton has performed nationally since 1981—from Joe’s Pub in New York City, to the Park West in Chicago, to the Herbst Theater in San Francisco and back to New York for several off-Broadway runs, with hundreds of comedy club dates in between. She opened for the Labelle Reunion Show at the Apollo and appeared in the True Colors show with Cyndi Lauper at Radio City Music Hall. In 2014 Clinton participated in The Great American Women Talkback Series along with Lily Tomlin. She also has performed at Nothin’ Like a Dame, an annual star-studded Broadway gala performance and event featuring women from stage, film, and the performing arts. Clinton has been featured at several comedy festivals including CTBS Comedy Festival in Las Vegas, Just for Laughs in Montreal, the Toyota Comedy Festival in New York, and Marshall’s Women in Comedy Festival. Her two decades-plus wealth of material is highlighted in her nine comedy collections, including Lady HAHA, Climate Change, Comedy You Can Dance To, Read These Lips and The Marrying Kind.

Clinton’s books include: I Told You So, a hilarious, bittersweet, politically acute survival guide; What The L? which was was nominated in the humor category for the prestigious 2005 Lambda Literary Award, considered to be the highest accolade for a book from the LGBT community; and  Don’t Get Me Started, which was named one of 1998’s Best Audiobooks by Publishers Weekly for its audiobook.

Ellen DeGeneres has said of Kate Clinton: “She’s funny. She’s smart. She’s gay. Read her book.”
