(TRENTON, NJ) -- ARTWORKS TRENTON will host three exhibits in the month of September, each with something unique for the patrons. Exhibits include "Diaspora" by Eun-Kyung Suh, "The Dreamers" by Delante Harrod and Mic Boekelmann, and works of the Sacred Collective.
The Main Gallery will be showing a solo exhibition by Midwest Artist, Eun-Kyung Suh, titled, " Diaspora". When asked about her exhibition, Eun-Kyung stated," I wanted to investigate the Diaspora experiences of Korean adoptees in this exhibition. They often confront ethnic identity issues and conflicts in adoptive society in dealing with stereotypes and feelings of alienation. My project is a series of pixels, photos and/or videos projected onto textile screens. I will continue my exploration of three-dimensional forms in textiles that examine personal, family, or cultural memory of Korean immigrants through images and text embedded in fabric."
The Community Gallery will host an exhibit titled, "The Dreamers", by Delante Harrod and Mic Boekelmann. The Dreamers project will include paintings, photography, and a video of the people talking about their dreams and aspirations as individuals and for the city Trenton. Delonte Harrod (photographer and writer) and Mic Boekelmann (an accomplished painter and teacher) have completed their two-year long project titled "Dreamers." The goal of this project is to tell the stories of ten individuals living in Trenton. They approached this project from the perspective of Trenton being a city of vibrant people who are and will continue to contribute to the common good of the city.
The ArtLab Gallery will be showing the works of the Sacred Collective, a group of artists who's eclectic works center on spirituality. They have put together a show titled,
"S.A.C.R.E.D" (Some Artists Considering Religious Energies Differently), an exhibit of installations and visual art that embraces the belief systems, philosophies, icons, myths, and rituals that act as a conduit to a spiritual experience for both the artist and viewer. Whether expressed in a representational form or in the abstract, the collection of artwork in our exhibit will explore and reflect the many diverse images that may be considered sacred in this world.
All three exhibitions run from September 9th to October 3rd, 2015. The opening reception for the exhibitions will be on September 12th, 2015 from 6-8pm.
