Garden State Film Festival Announces 2015 Honorary Chair

originally published: 02/06/2015
(ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- The Garden State Film Festival returns to Atlantic City for its second year, March 19-22, 2015. Mark Giannantonio will serve as Honorary Chair and open the 13th annual event with a cocktail party and premiere screening at Resorts Casino Hotel on Friday evening, March 20th beginning at 7:00 p.m. He succeeds Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian who served in this capacity for the festival's inaugural year in Atlantic City in 2014. "I am honored to serve as the Garden State Film Festival's 2015 Honorary Chair following Mayor Guardian in this role," said Mr. Giannantonio. "Everyone at Resorts is thrilled to welcome the festival and its attendees back."

Giannantonio brings more than 30 years of Atlantic City gaming expertise to his role as President and CEO for Resorts Casino Hotel which he joined in 2012 upon its acquisition by Mohegan Sun. Before joining Resorts Casino Hotel, Giannantonio was a Senior Gaming Consultant with Spectrum Gaming, and was President and CEO of Tropicana Casino & Resort. A lifetime Atlantic County resident and alumnus of from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Giannantonio serves on the Advisory Boards of the Atlantic City Alliance (ACA), the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) and the Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism at Stockton College. He has been a board member of the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ), United Way of Atlantic County, Dante Hall Theater of the Arts, and past president of the Atlantic City Hotel and Lodging Association.

In keeping with festival tradition, Mayor Guardian will pass the mantle of Honorary Chair to Mr. Giannantonio as part of the ceremonies. Last year, Mayor Guardian opened the festival ceremonies at the kick-off party on opening night and cut the ribbon on the stage of the Superstar Theater in Resorts. "I was absolutely honored to be the first Atlantic City honorary chair to the Garden State Film Festival last year in 2014, says Mayor Guardian. "Atlantic City is the perfect venue for this star-studded event, with Resorts playing the perfect host. And that's why it's most appropriate for Mark Giannantonio, CEO of Resorts, to be the person that I pass this torch onto for this year's honorary chair position. It's a tradition that I know will last many years from now. I truly admire all the hard work of everyone involved with making these high quality films and productions."

Tickets are $25.00 for the cocktail party and screening and $12.00 for the screening only, available in advance on-line, and at the door on a first come first serve basis. Weekend passes provide access to both events and are available for $45.00 at www.gsff.org and at the festival.
