Catching up with James Dalton: Talking Brighton Fringe and Memphis

James Dalton is a performer, a storyteller, and a musician. He's someone who has managed to perform around the world based solely on talent and ambition. James was featured several times in my old Upstage Magazine and is still very much active today. In fact, he's about to compete for the third time in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis and will debut his new show, "Asbury Park & Me," at the Brighton Fringe festival a few weeks later.

PODCAST: On His Way Around the World, One of Vox Sambou's First Stops is New Jersey

On Wednesday, April 13, Vox Sambou and his band will take the stage at the Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts. He writes and performs in Haitian, French, English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and his music focuses on the traditional rhythms of Haiti mixed with elements of Afrobeat, Jazz, Reggae, and Hip hop. Vox Sambou is currently - and it seems usually - touring the world. We spoke with him shortly after he arrived in the US after a visit with family in Haiti.

Makin Waves with Have a Good Season: "Kept the Spark Alive"

The childhood friendships at the foundation of the fun, infectious, edgy, adventurous Eatontown-based trio Have a Good Season has helped vocalist-guitarist Nic Palermo, drummer Dan Sakumoto, and bassist Dan Stattner survive and flourish with their music and stage show in the face of pandemic that crippled most bands.

Spotlight on Slomo Casino

Slomo Casino consists of Jonny Ball (Guitars/Vocals) and Jack Batchelor (Drums/Head Chef).  They are two old friends who met at music college in Liverpool and bonded over a love of good food, Gears of War and Japanese anime. Years later, playing separately in many bands, Stockport/Manchester based Indie pop/soul duo Slomo Casino was finally formed after a series of drunken voice memo song ideas to each other revealed that they actually had something going together. The Penguin Rocks presents this interview with Slomo Casino.

Spotlight On Kyle Chatham

Kyle Chatham is an artist originally from the west coast of Scotland who is now based in South London.  He plays a mixture of indie folk and alternative with elements of ambient/soundscape scattered throughout. He plans to put a band around the music as the music is mostly presented that way in the recordings, but currently is playing solo.  The Penguin Rocks presents this interview with Kyle Chatham.
