Horseshoes Releases "Say What You Mean"

originally published: 08/13/2023

(WASHINGTON, DC) -- Horseshoes released a new Indie-Rock single, "Say What You Mean" on August 11, 2023. The recurring theme within this new track is authenticity. The soft acoustic instrumentals supported by a yearning yet empowered lead vocal create a song for all types of listeners to relate to and absorb.

"‘Say What You Mean’ is about the obstacles we all face when trying to connecting with others and understand who they truly are," - Horseshoes, Indie-Rock Artist

The person “narrating” this song is initially frustrated that somebody isn't being up front about who they really are. In an attempt to understand this person, the narrator puts himself at risk of getting hurt. The main character wonders if this person hasn't developed a sense of self, and therefore doesn’t know what they want. The lyrics reflect an unexpected ending to the song when the confused narrator admits that he has difficulty understanding others because of his own narcissistic consumption with himself.

Austin Greaves is a Washington DC-based musician who performs under the name Horseshoes. He released his debut album, “Desert,” in June of 2022, which was followed up with a single “Come With Me,” released in October 2022. You can stream Horseshoes' recently released single "Hide and Seek" on all platforms.
