The Strollers community theater will open its 88th season with a presentation of Working: A Musical, from the book by Studs Terkel; adapted by Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso with additional contributions by Gordon Greenberg; with songs by Craig Carnelia, Micki Grant, James Taylor, Mary Rodgers and Susan Birkenhead, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Stephen Schwartz. A musical that will ring true to anyone who’s ever collected a paycheck, Working is based on a series of interviews conducted by noted author and broadcaster Studs Terkel. Through monologue as well as music, the show conveys the stories of a collection of workers who earn their keep doing everything from teaching to truck driving and millwork to masonry. First staged in Chicago in 1977, Working debuted on Broadway (directed by Stephen Schwartz) the next year; decades later, an update of the show led to the addition of music from artists such as famed "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Tickets $25 for adults; $20 for students/seniors. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit thestrollers.org or call 973-761-8453.
