This GRAMMY-winning, 12-man vocal ensemble makes its NJPAC debut with a holiday program as festive as it is eclectic, ranging from Gregorian chant to rousing American spirituals.|
Currently celebrating its 40th anniversary, the San Francisco-based Chanticleer has won two GRAMMY Awards and sold well over a million albums worldwide. The ensemble has been inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame, and frequently appears at the top of Billboard magazine’s classical music charts. Known worldwide for a repertoire than spans 10 centuries – from Gregorian chant, Renaissance polyphony and romantic art song to contemporary music, jazz, spirituals and pop – Chanticleer gives approximately 100 concerts a year, appearing in major concert halls across the U.S., Europe and Asia.
"(This is) precise, pure and deeply felt singing,” says The New York Times. "Chanticleer fascinates and enthralls for much the same reason a fine chocolate or a Rolls Royce does: through luxurious perfection,” says The Los Angeles Times.
In recent years, Chanticleer’s Christmas concerts have been broadcast on more than 300 affiliated public radio stations nationwide. Don’t miss this chance to see them perform their popular holiday program live at NJPAC.
