(NEW ORLEANS, LA) -- The Soul Rebels, the renowned New Orleans-based brass ensemble known for their electrifying blend of jazz, funk, and hip hop, will be performing June 21-23, 2024 at New York City's Blue Note with Ghostface Killah. This run of shows will highlight the group's adaptability and breadth as they collaborate with one of the most illustrious wordsmiths in hip-hop.

Commenting on the tour, The Soul Rebels’ manager, Alex Kurland, emphasized their commitment to working with the best in the industry. "When The Soul Rebels collaborate, it is with highly respected and iconic artists," said Kurland. The Soul Rebels will also perform a special, one-night only show on June 19 at the Ardmore Music Hall, located outside of Philadelphia in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. The show coincides with the observance of Juneteenth, which marks the end of slavery in the United States, and features legendary performers Marcus Miller and Fred Wesley.

Brass sensation The Soul Rebels, started with an idea - to expand upon the pop music they loved on the radio and the New Orleans brass tradition they grew up on. They took that tradition and blended funk and soul with elements of hip hop, jazz and rock all within the style of a modernized and contemporary brass ensemble.

Rock On! This Week's Sound Bites...7/3/25

"Absolutely! It is a tribute to him but it is not a tribute band," began Bon Scott "79th Birthday Tribute" organizer John Jackson as he discussed this year's event, past history and more. "What we're trying to do is model this off like what the "Experience Hendrix" folks do with their "Red House" tour where they've got several guitar players that come and do various Jimi Hendrix songs but there is not one person who is being Jimi Hendrix. So, last year we had 16, this year we have about a dozen different singers who are all going to do one or two songs; their favorites. So, it's more of a celebration and that's why we do it on his birthday rather than like a tribute gig the way people have come to know them. Hopefully we'll do him justice, it will be hot, it will be loud but it will be fun, I promise."
