(EWING, NJ) -- The College of New Jersey's Center for the Arts presents Las Cafeteras on Wednesday, March 6 at 8:00pm in the Kendall Main Stage Theater. The LA Times describes Las Cafeteras as "uniquely Angeleno mishmash of punk, hip-hop, beat music, cumbia and rock... live, they/re magnetic."

Using traditional Son Jarocho instruments like the jarana, requinto, quijada (donkey jawbone) and tarima (a wooden platform), Las Cafeteras sing in English, Spanish, and Spanglish and add a remix of sounds, from rock to hip-hop to rancheras. Las Cafeteras use music as a vehicle to build bridges among different cultures and communities and create ‘a world where many worlds fit’.

Tickets for the general public are $29 (under 18 can get tickets for $13) and TCNJ Alumni tickets are $18.  Tickets are available for purchase online. The College of New Jersey is located at 2000 Pennington Road in Ewing, New Jersey.

The Main Stage Theater is an 830-seat proscenium theater with orchestra and balcony seating, a motorized orchestra pit, and state of the art lighting, rigging, sound, and video systems. The stage is a resilient dance surface and is painted black. The Theater is suitable for events ranging from Lectures to Opera. Please note that audience capacities will be impacted by numerous factors including the Audio House Mix Position and the amount of wheelchair access needed.

The Center for the Arts was designed to showcase creativity and innovation—in all its forms of artistic expression—to educate and engage the greater TCNJ community. In collaboration with the School of the Arts and Communication, other Schools at TCNJ, student organizations, and local resources, our mission is to consider how the arts open windows to understanding our communities, their cultural and social evolution, and their future.
