Shane Cooley Releases Double Single: "Voices / Black Moon"

Singer-songwriter Shane Cooley has released "Voices / Black Moon" - a double single release celebrating an annular solar eclipse that will be visible in portions of North, Central and South America the following day. The two tracks are fan favorites that formerly appeared on Cooley's 2020 acoustic anthology, "50 Songs." The new versions were recorded at his Virginia home studio, Cooleyland, with Shane producing and performing all of the instruments. The tracks were mastered by Grammy-winning mastering engineer Fred Kevorkian in Brooklyn, New York.

"To me, both of these songs represent some kind of change, both personal and in the universe," said Cooley. "One of the luxuries of recording my own music is the ability to find the soul of the songs without dollar or time constraints. I recorded 'Black Moon' on my porch in front of one microphone, cicadas and all. Releasing these tracks in alignment with the eclipse feels like an offering of these songs in their purest form, clearing the air for new endeavors."

Cooley also adds that part of that change is the loss of beloved performer Jimmy Buffett in September. "Jimmy's music was integral in my early songwriting days," said Cooley. "A world without him is truly a world in need of more music."

"Voices / Black Moon" was released on October 13, 2023 and is available on all digital music platforms.

Earlier in 2023, Cooley released a solo single, "The Goddess," and collaborative releases "God Save The Queen" and "Give It Up (My Love) with Chris Webb. Two of Cooley's co-writes were also released this year on Ushuaia & The Wanderlust Orchestra's "End of the World" album, which has long since surpassed 100,000 streams on Spotify, and is on its third vinyl pressing in Target and Amoeba stores. Cooley's 2022 solo LP "Forest," and EP "The Circus Rolls On" have received worldwide airplay and critical acclaim. He has been writing, performing and releasing music for over twenty years.
