New Brunswick Performing Arts Center presents Chris Ruggiero's "Summer Serenade"

originally published: 02/20/2024

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Chris Ruggiero's new show is the perfect kick-off to the summer, with packed feel-good sun-drenched vibes and priceless music memories! If you remember songs like "California Dreamin'," "My Girl," "Groovin'" and "Wouldn’t it Be Nice," you'll be in the right place at the right time when Chris brings his "Summer Serenade" to the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC) on Friday, June 21st at 7:30pm.

Chris has been making waves in the music industry from his PBS-TV and Good Morning America appearances to his sold-out shows. Chris has been described as an “old soul” at only 24 years old, whose approach to his concert appearances is more in line with that of a bygone era than the artists of his generation.

In his new show, Chris is taking things to the next level. Not only will he be telling his incredible story, but he'll be breathing new life into the timeless music of the 60s & 70s with his super-talented band - complete with a touch of live brass just like in the golden age of rock and roll. Many of his unique arrangements have been crafted with the magic touch of Four Seasons arranger and pop-rock legend Charlie Calello (who is also a fan, commenting, "It's been a long time since I heard a voice like this.”) Chris will leave you feeling sun-kissed long after he leaves the stage. PS: If you know Chris’s music from his albums and shows, don’t worry, he will be singing fan favorites like “Unchained Melody” and “Betcha By Golly Wow”! Don’t miss the perfect way to start your summer!

Tickets range from $38-$45 and are available for purchase online or by calling 732-745-8000. The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center is located at 11 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

“Chris is what I call ‘the ultimate entertainer.’ I love his voice!” said Darlene Love. “Chris is so good at making the classics his own. I went to his show and loved every minute,” added Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers.

Jazz

Jazz at the Morris Museum: Bassist/Vocalist Thaddeus Exposé Celebrates the Music and History of New Orleans

The City of New Orleans, obviously, holds a mythical status in the world of jazz. The genre (or at least the form with which listeners are familiar) was invented and developed there, and every jazz musician – from the swingiest to the most avant-garde – holds at least some debt to the bygone inhabitants of the Big Easy. However, while the city is rightfully revered for its place in jazz history, its musicians tell a more complicated story.
